Listen: Muse unveil new heavy metal-influenced single ‘Kill Or Be Killed’

Flamboyant guitar rock stalwarts Muse have shared their latest single ‘Kill Or Be Killed’.
The heavy metal-ish tune marks another preview from the band’s upcoming album Will Of The People, alongside previously shared tracks ‘Compliance’ and ‘Don’t Stand Down’. The album’s set for release on Friday 26 August and available to pre-order now.
Matt Bellamy said of the new song, ‘”Kill Or Be Killed” is Muse at their heaviest! We wanted to update our hard rock sound on this album and with “Kill Or Be Killed” we found a modern metal sound featuring double bass drum action and even a death growl.
‘Lyrically the song takes influence from my favourite Paul McCartney song “Live And Let Die”, a dark take on how life’s adversity can sometimes bring out the worst human instincts to survival at any costs.’
Way back in 2006, we chatted to Bellamy as he hit T In The Park and promoted Black Holes And Relevations, when they were initially veering from alt-rock into heavier sounds. 'we were just trying to use insanity as a means to be heavy, rather than a typical rock idea of being heavy using a fat riff,' he told us. Read the full interview here.
