London Cocktail Week 2017: boozy brunches, tequila and tacos

Five events to catch at the world's largest cocktail festival

Once again the drinks enthusiasts of London take shelter from the autumnal weather for a week of special events, masterclasses and pop ups in some of the city's best bars. By downloading a £10 digital pass (they've ditched the wristbands) festival goers can enjoy delicious cocktails for £6 at more than 250 participating venues.

Pass holders will also get discount to ticketed events, because London Cocktail Week is about more than just exploring the different bars. Want to learn about the history of gin, how to pair cocktails with food or just chill with like-minded libation lovers? Here's the events we think are worth checking out.

Into The Wild Dinners with The Botanist Gin
Sager + Wilde have teamed up with The Botanist Gin to prepare a three course menu inspired by the landscape of the Isle of Islay, home of The Botanist. Dishes include venison ragu with cocoa tagliatelle and pine oil and each dish is paired with a bespoke Botanist cocktail.
Sager + Wilde, Paradise Row, Fri 6 Oct

Jägerbrunch
No, this doesn't involve doing Jägerbombs with your Eggs Benedict; Jägermeister UK Brand Ambassador has designed Jäger cocktails to complement brunch dishes served by former JägerMusic artist and chef, Dale Evans. To honour their German roots, the meal brings Berlin vibes and long, lazy feasts to London Cocktail Week.
Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, Hoxton Square, Sat 7 Oct

Tequila and Mezcal Fest
Tequila fans should head to the Old Truman Brewery for a celebration of Mexican culture. Over 50 of Mexico's best agave spirits and some of London's most popular taco restaurants serve up classic tequila cocktails, street tacos and Mexican brunches. Visitors can also expect tastings and masterclasses with the inventor and master distillers of Patrón Tequila.
Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, Sat 7 & Sun 8 Oct

How to Scientifically Make Perfect Cocktails
Crucible's Stu Bale shows you how to use science to create the perfect martini and G&T. The Mediterranean gin, Gin Mare will be used alongside 1724 tonic water and you'll get to take away a 50cl bottle of Gin Mare to practise your sciencey tipples at home.
Crucible, Arbutus Street, Fri 6 & Sat 7 Oct

The Ultimate Cocktail Tour
Visit three of London's trendiest new bars with a reserved space in each venue. First up is The Ned, a new members club in the City which will serve a Sunshine Splitz – a unique twist on the Grey Goose Le Fizz. Then, onto Scout (Great Eastern Street) where you'll be served a Jerusalem Artichoke, a gin cocktail which meets the flavours of the world with a savoury twist. Tienda Roosteria at The Curtain will pour your final cocktail of the tour, a concoction of Bacardi Carta Blanca, apple, chamomile, beer syrup, grapefruit juice and tonic.
Meet at The Ned, Poultry, Sat 7 Oct

London Cocktail Week runs until Sun 8 Oct at various venues.
