Loopallu Festival lineup announced

The Damned, Khartoum Heroes, Gabrielle Aplin and Skerryvore among the headliners
Loopallu , the Highland music festival now celebrating its 11th year, has announced its 2015 lineup. The festival, which takes its name from its hometown of Ullapool, is happening as ever in Broomfield Holiday Park on the shores of Loch Broom, and this year's programme features a bag of old-timers and newer faces.
The most illustrious of all the names in the lineup is that of The Damned, the veteran punks who were the subject of a recent feature-length documentary, Wes Orhsoski's The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead?, which premiered this year at SXSW. Also on the bill are teenage singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin; Glasgow hard-rockers Gun, whose gloriously unsubtle 1994 cover of Cameo's 'Word Up' was one of the more fun singles of the early 90s; The Supernaturals; King Creosote and old bandmate Vic Galloway's revival of their 90s outfit Khartoum Heroes, Skippinish, Skerryvore; Man Made; Twin Wild; Little Mammoths; Spring Break; Catholic Action and Nieves.
Besides music there are food and drink events, and the Ullapool Book Festival (which is in May) operates a Literally Literary tent, if you fancy getting away from it all with a good book. Loopallu has an annual fancy dress theme and this year it's 'Lost Summer'; you could interpret this as an invitation to dress like somebody on the cover of a young adult novel, but on the other hand you were probably going to dress like that anyway.
Tickets are on sale now from the Loopallu website, starting from £70 for the weekend, and they move fast.
Loopalu is at Broomfield Holiday Park, Ullapool on Fri 25 and Sat 26 Sep.
