Magician Twinpossible cabaret review: Amiable enough conjuring act

Twin magicians Kane And Abel have been performing their show, Magician Twinpossible, at the Fringe for seven years now. With such seasoned pros at the helm, you might expect it to be a more entertaining experience. They’re certainly charismatic and easily establish a good rapport with the audience, but the comedy rarely lands, jokes feeling too random to make sense.

The magic tricks themselves are fairly basic, and in some cases the audience can quite easily see how they’re being done. They trot out a number of card tricks that most people will have seen before, but among them there are a few gems; one involving body writing provides a real shock and prompts the most genuine round of applause in the whole show. For those who have never seen a magic show before, Magician Twinpossible might blow them away; otherwise it’s fairly forgettable.

Magician Twinpossible, PBH’s Free Fringe @ Voodoo Rooms, until 27 August, 2.45pm.
