Mid-Brow

Talented duo succeed with funny sketches, managing to stay one step ahead of audience expectations
Why aim high when you can instead lower your sights to mediocrity? That’s the self-professed plan by sketch duo Mid-Brow, who say they’ve spotted a gap in the market.
But they make a mediocre job of being mediocre to create something pretty damn good. After all, a flirt with mediocrity comes with heavy penalty.
Comprising Tom Blackwood and Alex Cooper, the pair steers a clear course through the waters of sketch comedy, lampooning their targets but staying one step ahead of expectations, deconstructing their own analyses between sketches.
They joke that they make you question everything, but it’s not the world’s most outlandish claim, and they also find a true star in one audience participant. Greg, if you ever put on a show, I’ll pay good money to see it.
Up for targeting are the likes of the legacy of Roman emperor Caesar’s name, and the legendary lyrics of Des’ree’s hit ‘Life’. Both have been closely examined under the comedy microscope before, but bear repeating, and to quote the questionable syntax of Des’ree herself ‘life indeed can be fun if you really want to’. With fellow duo Cardinal Burns making the leap onto the small screen, Mid-Brow seem well-placed to follow suit.
