Glasgow Jazz Festival

Neil Cowley Trio, Tim Kliphuis, Polar Bear and The Necks are just a few artists appearing at Glasgow’s annual jazz event.

Glastonbury Festival

It’s Glasto’s 40th anniversary and the festival is going all out, compiling a line-up of Stevie Wonder, Faithless, Shakira, Slash, Willie Nelson and Muse, plus pretty much every up-and-coming band you’ve ever heard of playing myriad stages across the site.

Hard Rock Calling

The headline acts’ music may not necessarily be ‘hard rock’, but Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai and James Morrison are sure to impress, and leave the hard rock up to Friday’s headliners Pearl Jam.

Roskilde Festival

The Scandinavian equivalent of Glastonbury, Roskilde is famed for its extension beyond the music. Festivalgoers are able to enjoy wall climbing, skating, cinema, book readings and poetry slams as well as music from Muse, Jack Johnson, Patti Smith and Them Crooked Vultures.

Wireless Festival

Hip hop meets rock and pop at this year’s Wireless festival, as Snoop Dogg, D12 and Jay-Z meet Lily Allen, Slash, LCD Soundsystem, 2manyDJs and Pink.

Edinburgh International Magic Festival

No prizes for guessing what goes on here – John Archer, Paul Wilson, Drew McAdam and Lewis Barlow are just a few of the conjurors, mind-readers and illusionists at this festival’s debut outing.

Stonehaven Folk Festival

Headliners Show of Hands will be joined by Kimbers Men, Lori Watson, Shooglenifty and Tyskie over three days of folk in the heart of Aberdeenshire.

Lounge On The Farm Festival

This gem of a festival will feature awesome up-and-coming bands Slow Club, Gold Panda, Hot Club de Paris and Elephants as well as a guaranteed visually-stunning set from DJ Yoda.

Oxegen Festival

Ireland’s Oxegen festival is a must for any hip hop fan, with not only one, but two rapping legends Jay-Z and Eminem headlining the festival. Other acts include Muse, Arcade Fire, The Prodigy, Florence & The Machine and The Black Eyed Peas.

T in the Park

Every year the world’s musical giants head to Scotland’s biggest musical festival. Dance Nation Live

Hebridean Celtic Festival

Runrig, Imelda May, Breabach and Treacherous Orchestra will head up to the Highlands for a weekend of Celtic delights.

Latitude Festival

Festival favourites Florence & The Machine, Belle & Sebastian, Empire of the Sun, The Maccabees and Vampire Weekend head to Suffolk for a weekend of chilled out fun at this, the most middle class of fests.

Benicassim

Headlining the four-day festival in Spain will be Dizzee Rascal, The Specials, The Prodigy and Foals. Fingers crossed that this year the windy weather won’t mar proceedings as it did last year.

Lovebox Weekender

Crail Festival

Perhaps the worst-kept secret when it comes to miniature festivals, The Secret Garden Party returns this summer with acts such as Gorrilaz Sound System, Marina & The Diamonds and Mercury Rev.

Truck

Another hidden gem, Truck festival has proved so incredible that it has just launched its US version of the festival. The UK equivalent boasts a mighty line-up including Esben & The Witch, This Town Needs Guns, Egyptian Hip Hop, Good Shoes, Future of the Left, Los Campesinos! and Islet.

Indietracks

Not only are you transported to the festival on a vintage steam train, but the bands are also excellent. Allo Darlin’, Love Is All, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and Pooh Sticks (who have reformed especially for this event) are all playing this summer.

WOMAD

Sonisphere

As merely one stop off on a long European rock tour, Sonisphere will invade Knebworth in July, with Mötley Crüe, Pendulum and Placebo in tow, and UK exclusive festival appearances from both Iron Maiden and Rammstein.

Youth Beatz

Field Day

This one-day event features an array of bands including Chapel Club, These New Puritans, Is Tropical, The Fall and Memory Tapes. The inevitable rain will make the festival field experience seem authentically muddy and you’ll completely forget that you’re actually in the centre of London.

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival

The Big Chill

Edinburgh Mela

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Pittenweem Arts Festival

Piping Live

Edinburgh International Festival

Porgy & Bess, Bliss and The Blind Boys of Alabama in The Gospel at Colonus are all vivid, colourful productions. Those shows will feature at this year’s EIF, along with many other dance, music, theatre and visual art acts.

Paul McKenna Band and Scooter Muse will play alongside the reappearing Red Hot Chilli Pipers at the festival’s 22nd annual outing.

Green Man Festival
