What they say ‘A brand new monthly event is set to take the capital by storm. Musika launches with the ethos of keeping Edinburgh at the forefront of all that’s going on, showcasing the big room house scene and keeping Edinburgh firmly placed on the map as a city to be reckoned with. Musika is pushing the sound of now and if you enjoy your music upfront and dirty, you would be mad to miss out. Mark this date in your diary, dig out your dancing shoes, and don’t expect an easy Monday morning. You won’t be disappointed.’
What we say We wept a silent tear as Progression left the clubbing calendar in 2006, and now the people behind that venture (namely resident Derek Martin) are back. We know his pedigree so expect quality house that pushes the boundaries. Good guests to launch with, Toolroom Records are one of the UK’s foremost cutting edge house labels. Label boss/producer Mark Knight’s DJ skills and tastes take in everything from electro to pure house. He initially launched Toolroom Records as an outlet for his own productions, but now the label’s roster includes the likes of Lucien Foort, Fedde Le Grand, Tom Neville, Robbie Rivera and Paul Harris. Holland’s Martijn Ten Velden brings a twisted edge to the world of house.
