This is a warm, funny and thought-provoking hour of stand-up that's wonderfully heightened by Myq Kaplan's addictive New York accent. The central message revolves around the need to be kind, and the pointlessness of 'hating' as many things as we claim to, when they often have nothing to do with us. Kaplan delivers this through a range of amusing anecdotes and self-analysis, touching upon his veganism, being Jewish, taking the South-American spiritual plant drug Ayahuasca, and his love of the film Inception.

Indeed he plays cleverly (and openly) on the concept of that film, layering many of his jokes inside one another and divulging on long tangents before pulling them neatly together into many impressive punchlines. However, his call-backs near the end of the show felt somewhat laboured and wholly expected, which is a shame. During a couple of moments the humour felt rather dependent on American references that might leave the audience a little bit lost. Generally though, this is smart and entertaining stand-up, based on a kind and loving main idea. Myq Kaplan's endearing outsider status makes for a competent and interesting comic.
