Tips for hot spots in the plushest part of the West End

What’s it like?
That nice bit between the ‘proper’ West End and Anniesland, with lots of cute coffee shops, restaurants and lovely flats. Think ornate doorways, stained glass and well-pruned window baskets, going for much more than your average Scottish house price.

Where’s it, like?
Bordered by Dowanhill, Partickhill and Kelvinside, it’s easily walkable from Partick underground. Get a 44 bus from the city centre over University Avenue and you’re pretty much on Hyndland Road, or get the low level train to Hyndland rail.

Who’s from there?
At one time or another, Hyndland has catered for Robert Carlyle, Aidan Moffat, Liz Lochhead and Roddy Woomble, plus Still Game faves Greg Hemphill and Sanjeev Kohli.

Why would I go there?
Hyndland Road is a boutique shopper’s paradise. Take in some theatre at Cottier’s, browse the racks in some high end ladies’ stores and buy some delicious titbits in Delizique or Jelly Hill café/bar. Order a bespoke cake in Top Tier, take your Nana bowling at the green or have a bistro dinner in Peter’s West End. Ruby Flowers is good for a quality bunch, if you’re florally inclined.
