New on Netflix UK: October 2015

Highlight anticipated Beasts of No Nation, from True Detective's Cary Fukunaga, premieres
Beasts of No Nation premieres on 16 October and marks Netlix’s first major film project and a potential Oscar contender. It’s based on the highly acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala about the trials of a child solder and stars Idris Elba stars as an imposing warlord. The release also promises an exciting next step in the career of True Detective director Cary Fukunaga, particularly following his departure from the series prior to its disappointing second season.
If you like your horror laced with deadpan humour you’re in for a treat this October as the infectiously silly, frequently funny vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows comes to Netflix in time for Hallowe'en viewing. New Zealanders, Jemaine Clement and Taiki Waititi write, direct and star in a glorious comedy that crosses the dry wit of This is Spinal Tap with the rich vein of the dead and it’s highly recommended.
Fans of Jackass should be delighted by Bad Grandpa, which sees Johnny Knoxville revive his elderly character, Irving Zisman, for crude and wincing spectacle as he tests the general public with his lewd behaviour. His chubby cheeked sidekick Jackson Nicoll brings a surprising warmth to proceedings.
And for those playing catch up on the multi-award winning drama Homeland, Season 4 arrives on 12 October.
