NT Art Month Q&A: Powderhall Bronze Editions
As part of the NT Art Month campaign, we’re running a series of Q&As with participating galleries. Next up, it’s Powderhall Bronze Editions

Tell us why NT Art Month is a good thing? NT Art Month is a great opportunity for Edinburgh galleries to link up, creating a fabulous display of artworks and exhibiting some of the best artists and designers in Scotland. It's a fantastic opportunity for visitors to the city and locals alike to have an engaging walk through the New Town, discovering artwork along the way. Holding NT Art Month in June is a great way to kickstart Edinburgh's creative calendar into the summer months.

Can you sum up the ethos of your gallery? Specialising in cast bronze sculpture, the family-run gallery showcases a vast array of bronze artworks from small handheld pieces to large garden works. These are accompanied with wall art by featured Scottish artists and selected handcrafted furniture by artisan makers. Curated to suggest an aspirational living setting, the gallery offers visitors a comfortable space to view and take in the artworks. Contemporary staging enables customers to envisage how pieces could be presented in their own home.
Is there a piece (or two) in your gallery which particularly reflects this ethos? Our cast bronze apples, displayed in the window, have quickly become the star of the show in the gallery and a definite talking point between Edinburgh residents. These pieces are great examples of the contemporary and accessible sculpture we show in the gallery and the high-quality finish of work we produce in our foundry, where all our sculpture is cast.
Name another gallery in NT Art Month that you especially admire? The Fine Art Society has always exhibited a wonderful selection of artists and we love visiting their beautifully curated exhibitions. The gallery represents artists working in a vast variety of mediums, including a great selection of sculpture and bronze pieces which, of course, we love!
What do you think makes the art scene in the New Town special? The New Town has a rich history of art and it’s fantastic to have such an array of galleries situated in such close proximity. The New Town is the destination in Edinburgh to head to if you’re looking for new artwork or even just some artistic inspiration. Each gallery is known for a different speciality so there really is something for everyone.
