NT Art Month Q&A: Watson Gallery
As part of NT Art Month campaign in Edinburgh, we’re running a series of Q&As with participating galleries. Next up, it’s Watson Gallery

Tell us why NT Art Month is a good thing? It brings the galleries together. There are so many independent galleries in this area, and it’s a wonderful chance to be reminded that we are part of something bigger.
Can you sum up the ethos of your gallery? We are an art-for-all business. We delight in giving emerging artists, both local and international, an opportunity to shine alongside well-established and collected artists.

Is there a piece (or two) in your gallery which particularly reflects this ethos? ‘A Saturday In Edinburgh’ by David Escarabajal. David is a cityscape artist from Spain who has been inspired by many cities that he has visited, but he really found a passion for the unique spaces and streets of Edinburgh. His series of local scenes is an ongoing favourite with our clients.
Can you name another gallery in NT Art Month that you especially admire? We love all our neighbour galleries!
What do you think makes the art scene in the New Town special? The sheer number of independent galleries, all fairly small and with their own unique identities; even a casual visitor to the area can’t help but feel that they are just surrounded by art as they pass through.
Watson Gallery, Queen Street, Edinburgh; NT Art Month runs until Sunday 30 June.
