Before we've even entered the room, Paco Erhard stands outside announcing to the queue that it's not going to be a show of lederhosen and cuckoo clocks but for people that like to think. Of course his pre-show warning also enables his opening gag: claiming that he's not a 'typical German' despite having already bossed his audience around. Beyond that there are no other stereotypes here (not even a beach towel in sight), just an intelligent young man with an ability to craft a great joke.

He was right about the thinker bit as there are many ideas flying about. In fact that's the main quibble with this show: the ideas fly and jump around too much making it difficult to keep track. Erhard issues forth with a series of smart observations on such big topics as the Nazis' legacy in modern day Germany and the guilt that his country still nurses as well as the irony of Merkel advocating a frugal economy to the rest of the EU given the perilous fiscal state of her nation just over a decade ago.

Erhard’s strength is in looking at things from a different perspective: the 'camps' in which the British have placed their lowest classes is a great, witty observation on the demonising of the proletariat. Elsewhere there's a nice visual gag about smoking and a lovely story about a practical-joke loving Muslim receptionist that challenges Erhard's own preconceptions. Overall it's a great show but would benefit hugely from sticking to one theme, making it a little more organised, a bit more 'German', you might say.
