Paolo Nutini and the Charlatans headline this year's Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations

New Year marks the Paisley singer's only UK festival performance in 2016
With just over three months until Christmas, details have been released about this year's Edinburgh's Hogmanay shenanigans.
The big news is that Paolo Nutini will headline the Concert in the Gardens. It's the Paisley singer's only UK festival performance in 2016 and he's leaving it impressively late in the year. The performance marks the 10th anniversary of his debut album, These Streets.
Over on the Waverley Stage, the Charlatans will be joined by special guests still to be announced.
Scottish Celtic crossover bands Salsa Celtica and Manran will play the Castle Stage, while the Frederick Stage features DJs, dancers and performers from Guilty Pleasures, following on from their success at last year's party.
On the Mound Stage, a special programme in collaboration with the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival features James Brown is Annie, Brass Gumbo and Blues n Trouble.
On a more sedate note, St Giles' Cathedral hosts the Candlelit Concert, while the Old Town Ceilidh returns to Parliament Square with music from Kilter and HotScotch. There are also performances from up-and-coming Scottish musicians Talisk, Top Floor Taivers and Feis Rois.
As always, fireworks will play a big part of the night's celebrations, culminating in a spectacular display at the bells.
Over three days, families with young children can get involved in arts and crafts, storytelling, music and dancing at new strand Sprogmanay, located at the National Museum of Scotland.
And that's not all folks. On New Year's Day, brave revellers have the chance to be part of the 1,250 'Dookers' who don fancy dress before dunking themselves in the Firth of Forth at South Queensferry, at the annual Loony Dook. In the city centre, Scot:Lands returns (lineup to be announced) and proceedings will come to a close with the Final Fling, a ceilidh held at the National Museum of Scotland later that night.
