Harvey will hit venues in support of her latest album I Inside The Old Year Dying

PJ Harvey has unveiled a handful of UK tour dates as part of a wider UK and European tour. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Friday 16 June. Find a full list of her UK tour dates at the bottom of this article. 

The tour comes partly in support of Harvey’s forthcoming album I Inside The Old Year Dying, set for release on Friday 7 July via Partisan Records. Fans who preorder the album from Harvey’s official site will gain access to an exclusive presale at 10am on Wednesday 14 June. 

Harvey also released a new single from I Inside The Old Year Dying to accompany the tour announcement. Titled ‘I Inside The Old I Dying’, the video was directed by Cristóbal León & Joaquín Cociña with downbeat monochrome visuals to match the haunting melancholy of Harvey’s songwriting.

Harvey said of the song, ‘This delicate and beautiful song eluded us until the very last day in the studio. Over the previous five weeks we had tried so many times to capture it and failed, but then John reinvented the feel of the guitar pattern. As he was demonstrating it in the control room, Flood handed me a microphone and pressed record whilst I sat next to John trying to work out how to sing to it. The result somehow captures the ethereal and melancholic longing I was looking for.

‘In the lyric everyone is waiting for the saviour to reappear – everyone and everything anticipates the arrival of this figure of love and transformation.

‘There is a sense of sexual longing and awakening and of moving from one realm into another – from child to adult, from life to death and the eternal.’

Starting at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on 22 and 23 September, the tour will then take Harvey to Glasgow’s Barrowlands on 25 and 26 September, London’s Roundhouse on 28 and 29 September, and Manchester’s Albert Hall on 2 and 3 October, before she continues her tour across mainland Europe.
