Fashion bible Vogue has named the world’s 50 most glamorous women, which lists the Queen alongside the likes of Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer.

The magazine said of the 81-year-old monarch: ‘She is as glamorous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels.’

The Queen was one of five women over 50 to make the grade, joined by grey haired lovelies Dame Helen Mirren and Charlotte Rampling.

Author Zadie Smith and artist Sam Taylor Wood were also considered to be the embodiment of glamour for the December issue of British Vogue.

The magazine stated: ‘Glamour is about how you wear something, not about what you wear.

‘You can’t buy glamour, and you can’t fake it. But unlike beauty, it’s not something you are born with, though it comes more naturally to some than others.’
