Richards demands apologies from Swedish reviewers

Keith Richards has demanded that two Swedish newspapers apologise for slamming a performance by the Rolling Stones, which he claims ‘cheapened’ the experience for fans.

The guitarist was criticised for appearing ‘super drunk’ in a headline for Expressen newspaper – which also saw Richards awarded zero stars for his performance in Ullevi stadium.

In response the 63-year-old wrote a letter to Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter, claiming the 56,000 fans at the gig experienced a different show to that described in the paper.

“How dare you cheapen the experience for them – and for the hundreds of thousands of other people across Sweden who weren’t at Ullevi and have only have you ‘review’ to go on.

“Write the truth. It was a good show.”

Meanwhile, Aftonbladet reviewer Markus Larsson, who gave the overall show a two star rating claiming Richards could barely manage the riff to Brown Sugar, claims it is Richards who should apologise.
