Fringe By The Sea is returning to North Berwick this August, promising Britpop bangers, big-budget electronica, and the country’s best political satirist.

Taking place from Friday 31 July–Sunday 9 August, the festival will welcome Rudimental (pictured above) to its main stage, best known for dance-pop chart-toppers such as  'Feel The Love', 'Not Giving In' and 'Waiting All Night'. Also in the dance category is Maribou State, the electronica duo who’ve produced tracks for Lana Del Rey and have three successful LPs to their name.

Meanwhile, fans of 90s rock will be entertained by Alex James’ Britpop Classical, a grand project from the Blur bassist which transposes a full orchestra onto some of Britpop’s most heralded songs. In less grandiose fashion, Have I Got News For You panellist and long-serving editor of Private Eye Ian Hislop will discuss politics, satire and his status as the most-sued man in English legal history.

Other announcements include classical and contemporary pianist Levi.sct, Scottish singer-songwriter Rianne Downey and the Bay City Rollers (yes, they’re still going strong). They’ll be joined by the already-announced Kool & The Gang, Belle & Sebastian, Louis Theroux, Ben Fogle, Capercaillie and Colonel Mustard And The Dijon 5.

Festival director Rory Steel said: ‘These latest big-name additions to the line-up ensures our iconic Big Top will be bouncing big time this summer.  We’re especially excited to be welcoming Alex James’s Britpop Classical, which has just raised the roof on the Albert Hall with an orchestral extravaganza. Closer to home, Scotland’s Rianne Downey, who has been enjoying touring with Paul Heaton, is another we can’t wait to see on stage. Our audiences keep setting new challenges for us, and we’re sure they’re going to love this latest release of tickets.’
