Russell Watson leaves intensive care after brain tumour

Opera singer Russell Watson – who was admitted to hospital last week for emergency surgery on an ‘aggressive’ brain tumour – has been moved out of intensive care.

The 40-year-old is now off the critical list at the Alexandra Hospital in Greater Manchester, but will remain under constant supervision.

Executive director Michael Stroud said: ‘It is too early to say when he will be discharged or what the recovery period will involve.

‘Once again, on behalf of Russell, we would like to thank fans for the overwhelming support and constant stream of gifts and messages.’

The Salford Tenor, known as The Voice, also had a tumour removed last year.
