Lughnasadh Festival has unveiled the line-up for its 2025 edition, with Kathryn Joseph headlining a cohort of majority female-led bands and artists. Taking place at Forgan Arts Centre on Saturday 2 August, tickets for the day are on sale now.

Organised in collaboration with Forgan Arts Centre and Big Rock Records, the festival bills itself as a ‘small, carefully crafted, family friendly, outdoor live music and arts festival suitable for all ages’. Alongside Joseph are SAY award winners Sacred Paws, Mercury Prize nominees corto.alto, BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year 2025 Becky Sikasa and Heavy Music Award 2025 finalists Dead Pony, amongst others.

Now in its second year, the inaugural Lughnasadh Festival was programmed in response to a request for more live music at Forgan Arts Centre, and has largely been assembled by a team of music lovers in the local community, who organise events under the banner Big Rock Records. This collective also organise gigs locally in Newport village with the aim of hosting some of Scotland’s very best talent. Thanks to their volunteer efforts, the Rio Community Centre has hosted James Yorkston, Jill Lorean, Pictish Trail, Djana Gabrielle, Randolph’s Leap, Sheena Wellington and many more.

Interim director at Forgan Arts Centre Teri Laing said: ‘Welcome back Big Rock! We can't wait to throw open the doors to world-class musicians and music lovers of all ages for another blissful garden party. Lughnasadh is becoming a much-loved community event, and the centre, grounds and woodland are the ideal backdrop for soaking up some sounds and celebrating the end of summer.’

Meanwhile, Big Rock Records member Chris Mugan added: ‘With so many fond memories from last year’s joyous event, we’re thrilled our Forgan pals have invited us back for more. We’ve worked hard to pull together a line-up that's even stronger, more eclectic and diverse. There’s something for everyone and everyone’s welcome.’
