Scottish Queer International Film Festival announces dates for 2023 Festival
The Scottish Queer International Film Festival will make its return to Glasgow showcasing a mixture of Queer classics and new releases

The Scottish Queer International Film Festival (SQIFF), the annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ filmmaking talent has announced it will run at the Centre For Contemporary Arts in Glasgow from Tuesday 26 until Saturday 30 September. It’s back for its eighth year (after a short break in 2022) and stronger than ever with a brand new team.
The full programme for the five-day festival is to be announced on Friday 8 September and includes a diverse programme of short and feature films, a craft fair, art installations, and a party.
Queer filmmakers receive a spotlight at this year’s festival celebrating both local talent and new filmmakers. The event opens with the popular Scottish Shorts before delving into the best international Queer films, new and old.

The comic book-style artwork for this year’s festival, which will be used on a new range of merchandise as well as posters and brochures, is from Glasgow based artist Konstantinos korakonero and aims to bring an amusing energy to this year’s festival. They said, ‘The artwork is inspired by that feeling of vibrant and explosive Queer creativity that I’m excited to experience as an attendee this year.’
At the forefront of SQIFF’s festival is accessibility, with audio description, live captioning, BSL interpretation, closed captioning and more. A quiet room will also be open throughout the festival to take a break between films, with hot drinks, sensory toys and comfortable seating.
Festival Director Indigo Korres said ‘SQIFF is back and even more trans than ever! After an incredibly successful cross-Scotland tour in spring, we’re really excited to come back and put on our yearly film festival with a variety of Queer events in Glasgow.’
Tickets to all screenings go on sale on Friday 8 September at 12pm and are priced on a pay-what-you-can scale from free to £10.
