Scottish Queer International Film Festival announces full programme for 10th Anniversary edition

The Scottish Queer International Film Festival has announced the programme for its 10th anniversary edition. Featuring screenings of more than 90 short films, the ambitious programme will also include a number of features, live music, live comedy, a queer craft fair and more, taking place from Monday 27 October – Saturday 1 November 2025 in various venues across Glasgow.

The celebration of emerging LGBTQIA+ will feature 19 curated programmes with screenings across Merchant City, at venues including The Social Hub, GMAC, Listen Gallery and The Boardwalk, with a late-night party at the Art School.

Included in the line-up is a Halloween special featuring a Scottish premiere of The Serpent’s Skin, the sixth feature film from 20-year-old wunderkind Alice Maio Mackay, which tells the story of a trans girl leaving her transphobic hometown, only to discover she possesses supernatural powers. Closing the festival will be Shatara Michelle Ford’s newest feature film Dreams In Nightmares, which tells a tender tale of queer femme friendship, open country roads in the American Midwest, and the strength of dreams in a world of nightmares.

Amongst its crammed programme, the festival will also feature works from Palestinian filmmakers as part of its No Pride In Genocide strand. There will also be strands which focus on queer joy, respecting and celebrating our elders, chosen families, and a special strand focusing on homegrown talent. Aside from film, there will be a queer craft fair and an exhibition, The River and The Glen, Camp Trans Scotland: The Exhibition, which documents the first fully trans camp in Scotland.

Indigo Korres, Director of SQIFF, said: “We are so excited for SQIFF’s 10th edition. We can’t wait to share our ambitious programme with you, including everything from queer heartbreak to camp horror. SQIFF has a fantastic audience and we look forward to coming together again to celebrate queer film, art and community. A suite of live performances will also come from stand-up Kathleen Hughes, poet Esraa Husain, artist Mele Broomes, and cellist Simone Seales.
