Snow Patrol, Kasabian and Nicki Minaj join The Stone Roses on T in the Park line-up 2012

Noel Gallagher and Florence and the Machine also on bill
It was announced this morning that Kasabian and Snow Patrol are to be the other main headliners at this year’s T in the Park (Fri 6 – Sun 8 Jul).
Also announced is American rap star Nicki Minaj, who'll be bringing some American glamour to the event.
Festival director and DF Concerts main man Geoff Ellis was excited to welcome the Brit bands to the T Main Stage, alongside his own ultimate headliners The Stone Roses.
‘People always ask what band you would get if you could have anyone in the world, and I’ve never been able to answer that question by saying The Stone Roses because I was scared to jinx it but now, here we are.’
Of Beyoncé’s 2011 performance, Ellis says: ‘You can’t top Beyoncé, so you don’t try to do that. You go in a different direction. There’s only one Beyoncé but, at the same time, there’s only one Stone Roses too.’
‘They are a seminal band and it’s been so long since they did a show together. That first album could have been written a year ago because it still sounds so current.’
Other acts announced include Jessie J, The Vaccines, New Order, Emeli Sande, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Mastodon, The Maccabees and Tinie Tempah. Florence and the Machine and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds were added to the line-up earlier this week.
Ellis says: ‘I think it’s a matter of keeping the quality up and making sure we’ve got the best new bands like Skrillex and Maverick Sabre, as well as the more established bands like Kasabian who have been around for a number of years,’ Ellis says.
‘They’ve played about four times now but they are a band, like Snow Patrol, that have grown with the festival. They were on in the King Tut’s tent when they started out and now they’re headlining the main stage.’
More acts will be revealed in the run up to the festival, but we shouldn’t hold our breath for another late announcement on the same scale as Mrs Jay-Z. Ellis says:
‘There are of course more acts still to be announced as and when we get them but probably not on the scale of Beyoncé. That was a timing thing really – we’d been chasing her for ages but hadn’t confirmed her by the time of the 2011 launch.’
