Describing themselves as ‘placid pals peddling patriarchy-poking parp punk’ Animal Byproducts (Sunday 25 May) will be at Edinburgh’s Leith Depot this weekend, joined by Lynskey and Alexx Munro.

Glasgow’s Saint Luke’s will be playing host to musical trailblazers The East Pointers (Saturday 24 May), who push the boundaries of modern folk with their dancefloor-shaking electro-trad breakdowns.

While Glasgow’s The Hug and Pint have their own folk firebrands rocking up this weekend in the shape of Mama’s Broke (Sunday 25 May), a Canadian duo known for their dark, folk-without-borders sound, which they have taken all over the world.

STAGE

SCREEN

The Phoenician Scheme

A childhood favourite of many, Lilo & Stitch has had the remake treatment with a slickly produced and anarchically funny live-action / CGI update, starring adorable newcomer Maia Kealoha, alongside Tia Carrere, Billy Magnussen, Zach Galifianakis and more.

And to celebrate the release of his latest, The Phoenician Scheme, the Grosvenor Picture Theatre in Glasgow are putting on a Wes Anderson Season (Thursday 22 May – Thursday 5 June) featuring some of the director’s most endearing offerings. It kicks off this week with his debut, Bottle Rocket, with Rushmore and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou to follow.

At Edinburgh’s Cameo, you can rediscover a pair of Peter Bogdanovich classics with this week’s screenings of Paper Moon & The Last Picture Show (Friday 23 – Sunday 25 May).
