AROUND TOWN

Billed as a festival of ‘creativity and curious happenings’, Vogrie Pogrie (Friday 12 – Monday 15 September) is taking place this weekend at Vogrie Country Park. It brings together more than 150 artists, and features performances and activities for all, while you can camp or just pop along for a day.

Edinburgh's Out Of The Blue Drill Hall is welcoming back B’s Vintage Market (Sunday 14 September) for its autumn edition. It’s designed to cater for all your wardrobe needs as the weather turns chilly, with summer bargains also available.  

In celebration of 100 Years Of RRS Discovery (Friday 12 – Tuesday 16 September), the UK’s very first Royal Research Ship, you can explore the world of ocean science and engineering for free at Discovery Point in Dundee, with fun for all the family.

MUSIC

Jessie Reyez

Toronto-born R&B star Jessie Reyez (Sunday 14 September) will be swinging by Glasgow’s O2 Academy this weekend to treat audiences to tracks from her third studio album, Paid In Memories, as part of her world tour.

The Garage’s G2 is the setting for a show from pop-inspired indie songstress Siobhán Winifred (Sunday 14 September), a rising star who has opened for Stevie Nicks and gigged with The Snuts and Blossoms. Beattie and Lewis McLaughlin provide the support.

And Audio Glasgow will be welcoming A Burial At Sea (Sunday 14 September), Liverpool-based post-rockers known for their innovative sound that blends brass, ambient and experimental, as well as their Irish roots. Expect songs from their most recent release, Close To Home.

STAGE

Fiddler On The Roof

One-person show Man’s Best Friend (Friday 12 & Saturday 13 September) is a heartwarming tale of companionship in which a dog walker confronts some tough truths when chasing down some lost pooches. Catch it at Dundee Rep.

The co-presenter of the award-winning Infinite Monkey Cage Robin Ince (Sunday 14 September) will be looking at the psychological and astronomical as he presents an hour of joy, humour and curiosity at Glasgow’s The Stand.

At Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre, the award-winning revival of one of the classics of musical theatre, Fiddler On The Roof (until Saturday 13 September), is in town for one week only after selling out London’s Barbican.

SCREEN

Cinemasters: Wong Kar Wai

It’s been 41 years and the gang are still cranking it up to 11 as they reunite for long-awaited sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, once again directed by Rob Reiner and featuring original stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer as the head-banging heroes.

Glasgow Film Theatre’s Cinemasters: Wong Kar Wai (until Wednesday 1 October) is a season screening some of the director’s most wonderful works, with Chungking Express this week’s treat.

And kicking off this week is Ibero Docs (until Sunday 28 September), which celebrates the cultures of Latin America, Spain and Portugal through powerful documentaries and takes place in venues across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

PODCASTS

Hosted by none other than Kate Moss (her first foray into the podcasting world) David Bowie: Changeling, is an eight-part podcast from BBC Radio 6 Music on the artistic evolution of a man Moss knew very well.

Tortoise Investigates: The Gas Man follows US Special Agent Dennis Bass, who stumbles into a global plot helping fuel a war and ends up pursuing the titular suspect in a decades-long game of cat and mouse.

And in Oh Gatekeeper With Joe Talbot the Idles frontman will be discussing the compulsion to create with musicians, artists and cultural icons. First up are Tony Hawk and Kenny Beats, with Julian Casablancas, Danny Brown, Peaches, Jehnny Beth, Josh Homme and more to come.

VISUAL ART

Edinburgh’s Stills is the setting for Matthew Arthur Williams – In Consideration Of Our Times (Friday 12 September – Saturday 18 October), an exhibition of new photography from the Glasgow-based artist known for work that explores themes of race, queerness, memory and history.

At Glasgow’s Patricia Fleming Gallery, they’ll be hosting Tessa Lynch: Arena (Saturday 13 September – Sunday 18 October), a show featuring new and repositioned artworks in which Lynch reflects on the control of urban life.

And finally, also opening this weekend is an exhibition of selected works from Scottish artist and musician George Macpherson (Saturday 13 September – Monday 15 October). The Music Of Home features abstract paintings inspired by the textures and sounds of nature.
