Start 2026 with a bang at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
This year’s celebrations feature a hefty programme of Scottish talent

Edinburgh’s world-famous Hogmanay celebrations return this year with a four-day programme that puts Scottish music centre stage. From raucous ceilidhs to intimate candlelit concerts, this will be a Hogmanay to remember.
The centrepiece, Hogmanay itself, promises to be unforgettable. Grammy Award-winners Wet Leg headline the Concert In The Gardens, joined by Scottish favourites Hamish Hawk and Lucia & The Best Boys. At the Street Party, Belgian DJs 2manydjs will lead the charge on the Party Zone, joined by special guest DJ Hayley Zalassi. Meanwhile, the Scottish Stage will celebrate the country’s vibrant contemporary folk scene with a headline set from electrifying Skye duo Valtos, alongside performances from all-female folk favourites The Poozies and Bella McNab’s Dance Band, creating one of the world’s biggest ceilidhs.

Before all that, celebrations kick off in spectacular fashion on Monday 29 December with the famous Torchlight Procession. Later, Assembly Rooms launch their Hogmanay Festival Club with a special Vitamin C takeover curated by Vic Galloway and Andy Wake. The opening night features a storming live set from Edinburgh indie-rockers Swim School, a DJ set from Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, and local rising stars waverley, setting the tone for a weekend steeped in homegrown sound.
On Tuesday 30 December, Scottish music legends Peat & Diesel headline the Night Afore Concert, bringing their high-octane trad-folk energy to the foot of Edinburgh Castle, with support from accordion sensation RuMac. The same night, the atmospheric setting of St Giles’ Cathedral hosts something new: Lau By Candlelight. Acclaimed folk trio Lau (Kris Drever, Martin Green and Aidan O’Rourke) will strip back their electronics for an intimate, reflective performance.

On Wednesday 31 December, Assembly Rooms hosts ceilidh lovers young and old. For families, the ever-popular Bairns Hogmanay Ceilidh Club returns with the Jimi Shandrix Experience, offering a lively afternoon of traditional tunes and dancing. Those looking for a more grown-up party can enjoy the legendary Hogmanay Ceilidh Club that evening.
And as the bells ring out to welcome 2026, the Candlelit Concert at St Giles’ Cathedral will provide a breathtaking finale, featuring works by Bach and Mozart performed by the St Giles’ Cathedral Choir, St Giles’ Camerata and a host of young soloists.
With even more homegrown acts to be unveiled in the First Footin’ line-up soon, this is shaping up to be a Hogmanay to remember.
