Steph Marsden launches exhibition space this August

Magpie Design Industries creator opens shop in Edinburgh
Working mainly in wood, Steph Marsden produces handmade contemporary, sculptural furniture and design-led accessories. Steph studied design and cabinetmaking at Adam Smith College, Kirkcaldy and in 2007 was awarded the Haldane UK Design Scholarship. She likes to experiment with traditional perceptions of functionality and believes that furniture should be innovative and beautiful as well as useful. Her Magpie Design Industries collection grew from a curiosity in finding stylish, creative and fun design solutions to handmade, sustainable craft. The Magpie product range uses salvaged materials, recycled plastics, locally sourced Scottish hardwoods and FSC certified products.
This August sees the launch of Steph’s new Edinburgh shop and exhibition space, Craft House Concept, as well as a collaborative project for Scotland’s Housing Expo, Inverness. Craft House Concept will showcase the best of British design-led craft as a viable solution in sustainable living and aims to become the hub of a vibrant community where anyone can engage with craft, process, design and narrative. Craft House Concept opens on Fri 6 Aug at 31E Minto Street, Edinburgh.
