Tinky Winky, Dipsy and co. take their adventures out on the road for their 20th anniversary

Their bright, cuddly bodies are so instantly recognisable, it's as if the Teletubbies have always been part of our lives. But this year actually marks the 20th anniversary of the excitable quartet's first 'eh-oh', which sent babies and toddlers (and students) across the land into raptures of delight. Carefully constructed to appeal specifically to young ears and eyes, the colourful set, nonsense language and comforting repetition have all worked their magic on the small screen, but now it's time for something a bit bigger.

Appearing in their first ever live stage show, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po will give little ones the chance to join in with some of the regular features from the TV series, along with brand new segments written specially for the stage show by BAFTA-winning composer Mani Svavarsson.

Teletubby pal Noo-Noo will join them on the road, as will the Tubby Phone, the chuckling Sun Baby and a range of animal puppets. Directed by Richard Lewis (the man behind the hugely successful Peppa Pig Live shows) Teletubbies: Big Hugs is the toddler equivalent of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Drake sharing the same bill, so expect some big smiles.

King's Theatre, Edinburgh, Sat 7 & Sun 8 Apr.
