Ten things you might not know about… Zach Braff

The star of Scrubs, Garden State and All New People also voices the US Andrex puppy

He is the youngest of four children. He has two brothers, Adam and Joshua, and a sister, Shoshanna. His mother and father are divorced and have both remarried. He says he now spends Thanksgiving with his 'four parents'.

He had an 'American musicals'-themed Bar Mitzvah.

He attended Columbia High School, Maplewood, New Jersey at the same time as Ahmed Best (the voice of JarJar Binks) and graduated the same year as R&B singer Lauryn Hill.

He is the voice of the Cottonelle puppy (the US equivalent of the Andrex puppy) [see below].

His first movie role was in Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) starring Diane Keaton and Angelica Huston. Zach played Woody Allen's son and appeared in one scene [see below for Braff's reflections on working with Allen].

There's an entire blog devoted to men who look like Zach Braff. Among the lucky fellas who share his 'Braffian features' are John Travolta, Shia LaBeouf and, erm, Telly from Sesame Street.

In 1998 he played a minor role as Malcolm alongside Alec Baldwin, Angela Bassett and Liev Schreiber in a New York production of Macbeth.

He took flying lessons and obtained his pilot's licence in time to fly himself from New York to an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show [see below].

He wrote, directed, chose the music for and appeared in every scene of the 2004 film Garden State. He picked up a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack.

His right leg is an eighth of an inch longer than his left.
