TECH-HOUSE

Terry Francis won Muzik magazine’s ‘Best New DJ’ award in 1997 and has lived up to his monicker with aplomb. His style, a cut and paste mash up of techno and acid house beats with a nod to both the past and present is probably best described as tech-house, the genre his partner in DJ crime, Nathan Coles is credited with inventing. Along with Coles, he started Wiggle in 1994 and it is still London’s most revered and respected house night, testament to Francis’ talent and ever evolving style.

Along with his own Saturday night Fabric residency, he is, ‘currently working on my new album for Fabric, which I’m very excited about as well as spending a lot of time in airports every weekend and DJing pretty much all over the world’. This latest record is only one is a long line of influential releases that have put him at the top of his game where house music in this country is concerned, the most notable of which are his legendary mixes on the Pagan label, Architecture Volume 1 and Architecture Volume 2, and of course this year’s Fabric live compilation. He has his own label, Eye 4 Sound, which has produced the likes of Frisk and Metal Dogz. His forthcoming DJ set as Subculture comes hot on the heels of label and Wiggle partner Nathan Coles’ recent visit. ‘I’m really looking forward to playing at Subculture. I’ve played there before and loved it and I’m confident it’ll be a very good night. I’m looking forward to sharing the decks with Harri and Dominic,’ he says.
