The Fratellis to headline Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Night Afore party
The Glasgow indie-rockers will celebrate 20 years of Costello Music with a headline set in West Princes Street Gardens

The Fratellis are heading to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, with the Glasgow indie-rockers announced as the headliners for this year’s Night Afore Party on Wednesday 30 December. The trio will take to the stage in West Princes Street Gardens as part of the capital’s four-day Hogmanay celebrations, with the concert marking their first appearance at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. It also comes 20 years after the release of their hugely successful debut album, Costello Music. Released in 2006, the record spawned some of the band’s best-known songs, including ‘Chelsea Dagger’, ‘Henrietta’ and ‘Whistle For The Choir’. The album went on to sell more than a million copies and earned the band a BRIT Award. The Fratellis have released a further five albums since reforming in 2012, most recently 2021’s Half Drunk Under A Full Moon. Their recent live appearances have included sets at Glastonbury and TRNSMT.
The Night Afore Party kicks off the musical programme of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, with dance legends Underworld taking over the Gardens on New Year’s Eve. Their headline set will provide the soundtrack to a new Midnight Moment combining live music, lights, projections and the traditional fireworks from Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay begins on Tuesday 29 December with the Torchlight Procession and concludes on New Year’s Day with First Footin’. In between is a programme of outdoor concerts, indoor ceilidhs, comedy shows and traditional Scottish celebrations for all ages.
Tickets for The Fratellis’ Night Afore Party go on sale at 10am on Friday 11 September on the Edinburgh's Hogmanay website, priced from £42 including booking fees. Tickets for Hogmanay In The Gardens, headlined by Underworld, and the world-famous Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party are already on sale on the website.
