The Johnnie Walker Booth brings music and more to Edinburgh
The former police box outside The Johnnie Walker Experience is getting a colourful makeover, with live performances and cocktails on offer

A former police box on Edinburgh’s Hope Street is getting a new lease of life this weekend, as The Johnnie Walker Booth launches with an afternoon of live music, whisky tastings and cocktails. Located directly outside The Johnnie Walker Experience (the World’s Leading Spirit Tourism Experience), the newly reimagined pop-up is billed as a space celebrating Scottish creativity, flavour and music, and it opens on Saturday 19 September from 1pm to 4pm.
Music for the opening afternoon is curated by independent Scottish record label Lost Map Records, with four emerging artists performing throughout the afternoon. Glasgow-based Canadian singer-songwriter LT Leif kicks things off at 1.15pm, followed by Ayrshire-raised producer and multi-instrumentalist Isa Gordon at 2pm. Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Faith Eliott performs at 2.45pm, with Edinburgh poetic-psychedelic ensemble Acolyte, led by poet and performer Iona Lee, closing the afternoon at 3.30pm.

Guests can also enjoy a new cocktail from the recently relaunched 1820 Rooftop Bar. The Harbour Gimlet combines Johnnie Walker Black Label with Grocer’s Cordial, yellow pepper and lime zest, in a light pink serve inspired by Scotland’s historic trading ports. Visitors can also sample Johnnie Walker drams during the launch, alongside an exclusive offer for the attraction’s retail store and 1820 Rooftop Bar. The Booth has also received a colourful makeover from Scottish artist Gabriella Marcella, whose work can be found at Glasgow Queen Street station and in Inverness. Her bespoke exterior artwork gives the former police box a contemporary Scottish identity.
The launch is the first of a series of events planned for the Booth, with further tastings, samplings, live music and special events set to take place throughout the year. Those heading inside The Johnnie Walker Experience can also visit the 1820 Rooftop Bar, which serves globally-inspired cocktails created by Mr Lyan Studios and a sharing-style menu from Scottish chef Scott Smith, alongside live music and cultural programming. Guests can also discover everything from the Luxury Whisky & Chocolate Pairing where they can enjoy a curated pairing of premium drams and locally sourced artisan chocolates, to The Signature Experience which alights the senses, taking guests on a trip through Johnnie Walker’s history and on an exploration of flavour.
The Johnnie Walker Booth opens on Saturday 19 September; for more details, visit the Johnnie Walker Experience website.
