Male vocal group The Magnets are a Fringe mainstay. The acappella quintet once again delving into the back catalogue for an 80s special. It's basically Glee goes 80s. You probably already know if this show is for you just from reading the last three sentences.

The playlist features everything you'd expect: Whitesnake, Madness, Chaka Khan, Whitney, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Run DMC, Rick Astley, Prince, the list goes on. All recreated by five men on stage harmonising with added vocal percussion (John Pointer even gets a pretty impressive beatbox solo section). It's incredibly accomplished and professional, they all boast solid vocals that blend nicely, and know how to get people on their feet.

Shamelessly trading on nostalgia with mid song banter about cassettes, VHS and 80s movies. The songs themselves are buffed and polished until all the sharp edges have been removed for an hour of easily digestible pop morsels. It ends with a big medley then two massive final tunes that get half the audience on their feet and dancing in the aisles. If you want edgy or innovative you've come to the wrong show. The Magnets don't pretend to be anything but mainstream, family friendly, feel good entertainment and they do what they do very well.
