In a festival that contains a high profile dance adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s gothic classic in its programme, this other production is also imaginative and features an all women cast, puppets and music.

An original and interesting display of theatre, the intriguing musical score with string instruments and keyboards helps create the dark and mysterious atmosphere in which to set the story.

Most spectators will already be familiar with the plot, and director Darren Tunstall has chosen to focus on the most theatrical episodes of this novel. The story line is adhered to faithfully and from the opening scene, Dorian Gray's driving quest for youth sets the tone for the play. Lord Henry toys menacingly with the young and beautiful Dorian leading him to make his fateful wish.

Overall, this is an ambitious piece of theatre with interesting directing, but the cast from the Lincoln School of Performing Arts, lack the experience and confidence to make this play a hit.
