Top names flock to the Meadows for Taste of Edinburgh

Just one week before it sets out its culinary stall in Edinburgh's Meadows, the organisers of Taste of Edinburgh have announced four new features to this year's programme. The new trimmings have been added to a festival which already promises to boast the best of Scotland's food industries, with sampling stands from over 100 speciality food and drink suppliers throughout the weekend, and a slew of food and drink's biggest names on site.
Taste Wine will welcome wine experts Rose Murray Brown and Will Lyons, who will each host a wine tasting programme, while at Edinburgh's Food and Whisky School, top chefs Antony Worrall Thompson, Nick Nairn and Martin Wishart will all showcase their culinary skills.
Elsewhere, Taste Kitchen with Sainsbury's will build on last year's popular tasting sessions, featuring chef masterclasses, demonstrations and Q&A sessions. Finally, those holding a Connoisseur's ticket can enjoy a Laurent Perrier Champagne masterclass.
In addition, the festival boasts more of Scotland's award-winning chefs and restaurants than ever before, including Abstract, Centotre, Creelers, Dakota, Ducks at le Marché Noir, First Coast, Forth Floor at Harvey Nichols, Malmaison, Number One at The Balmoral, Plumed Horse, Restaurant Martin Wishart, Restaurant David Bann, Santini, The Tower, Tigerlily and Vincaffè.
Sarah Forbes, Taste of Edinburgh festival director, said of the programme: 'We recognised the appetite for interactive events at last year's festival and are introducing more of these to further enhance Taste of Edinburgh in 2008 and make it a truly unmissable experience for anyone who wants to explore and enjoy great food and drink.
'Taste is the perfect mechanism to highlight what Scotland has to offer and it's also a fantastic day out. What better way to celebrate the Scottish culinary community than bringing all of our top restaurants and producers together in one place?'
