Up Yer Airts announces full line-up for south of Scotland showcase
Six emerging artists will perform at this showcase designed to help newcomers network with industry professionals
Up Yer Airts, a music organisation based in the south of Scotland, has announced the line-up for its showcase at Glasgow’s Drygate. Taking place on Saturday 17 October, tickets for the all-dayer are on sale now.
Headlining the line-up is High Priestess, an alt-rock band from Dumfries who’ve become known for their energetic live show. They’ll be joined by alt-rock act 8 Days (pictured above); indie band Blanc; alternative band Calfarlane; Singer-songwriter Jodie Rae; and multi-instrumentalist Devin Casson.
Alongside the live performances, the event will provide opportunities for networking between artists and industry professionals, helping establish lasting connections between the South of Scotland and Scotland's wider music community.
The event marks the next stage in Up Yer Airts' rapidly growing music development programme. Over the past two years, the organisation has supported over one hundred young musicians through residential songwriting and recording projects, mentoring, live performance opportunities, funding and artist development programmes. From Geez A Choon and Sunday Scratch, to the DIY Fund and a series of established music festival live opportunities, Up Yer Airts has been building a clear pathway for emerging artists to develop their careers without leaving the region.
Liam Russell, creative director of Up Yer Airts, said: ‘We've spent the last few years building a pipeline for emerging artists and this showcase feels like the natural next step. We are so excited about the line up for our first ever showcase, and feel these artists to be absolutely ready to prove themselves to the music industry in the Central Belt.’
