Plymouth's biggest bonfire and firework display is held at The Hoe (Tue 5 Nov). Expect fun fair rides and catering stands from 4pm with entertainment provided by Radio Plymouth. The bonfire is lit at 7.30pm (with an appearance from Guy Fawkes himself) and the fireworks display set off from the Citadel.

To the west, Peak Rock changes colour thanks to the fireworks overhead at Polperro Peak Rock Fireworks Display and Bonfire (Sat 2 Nov). The evening also features a Guy competition and a barbecue held on Looe's Polperro Quay. Another Looe-based celebration is the Lanreath Firework Display (Fri 1 Nov), a traditional bonfire night complete with music from Pirate FM and firework display beginning at 7pm.

Exeter celebrates bonfire night with an evening of fairground rides, live music, a hog roast and mulled wine at Exeter Golf & Country Club on Fri 1 Nov. And don't pack away the Halloween costumes, as there's also a family fancy dress competition. Then, on Sat 2 Nov, head to the Saracens grounds. With the gates opening at 5pm there are live bands, licensed bars and rides to enjoy before the sky lights up at 7pm. Complete the weekend with the event at the Westpoint Arena for Exeter Round Table's charity display (Sun 3 Nov). Gates open at 5.30pm and there's fun fair rides and food stalls to keep you busy until the fireworks at 7.30pm. This is the largest pyro-musical charity firework display in Devon, and this year it celebrates the five decades since the moon landing.

Over in Torquay thousands are expected to attend this fireworks display at Sherwell Valley Primary School on bonfire night itself. The gates open at 5pm and there are food stalls selling hog roast, jacket potatoes and hot dogs. In Abbotskerswell head to the playing fields on Slade Lane on Sat 9 Nov for some pyrotechnic delights along with entertainment from fire spinners.
