South coasters, celebrate Guy Fawkes night this year at one of the many events happening on the 'English Riviera'. In Southampton there's the Ageas Bowl Fireworks Party (Fri 1 Nov), with funfair rides and food on offer when gates open at 6pm, before the fireworks spectacular lights up the sky at 7.30pm. The Royal Victoria Country Park Fireworks Display (Sat 2 Nov) will also be making a welcome return, with food and activity stalls a-plenty, alongside miniature steam train rides and music from Wave 105's Tony Shepherd, before the fireworks display at 7.30pm.

Unfortunately the annual Mayflower Park fireworks will not be going forward this year, due to refurbishments taking place at the park. However, St Mary's Stadium will be hosting The Greatest Fireworks Show (Sat 2 Nov), with a choreographed fireworks display set to songs from the hit musical. There will also be a circus-themed fancy dress competition, a laser show and other live entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. The annual fireworks display over at Wellow Primary School (Sat 9 Nov) will also have a Greatest Showman theme, with the bonfire lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks display going up at 7pm.

West of the city, the Totton and Eling Cricket Club (Sun 3 Nov) promises a fun, family-friendly evening of pyrotechnics in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, alongside a DJ, fairground rides, a hog roast and more. While to the north of Southampton, the Winchester Round Table will be hosting their annual Bonfire Night celebrations (Sat 9 Nov), with a performance by the Winchester Rock Choir outside the Guildhall before the torchlight procession leads audiences down to the fields behind River Leisure Park Centre. There the bonfire will be lit at 7.15pm, before the fireworks display at 7.45pm.

If Portsmouth is closer to home, head down to Cosham (Wed 6 Nov), where Portsmouth City Council have organised a bonfire (from 7pm) and fireworks (at 7.30pm) at King George V Playing Fields, which will also have a funfair for the wee ones under the age of 12. Or nip across the harbour to Gosport, where the HMS Sultan will be hosting a Bonfire Night celebration (Wed 30 Nov) with firebreathers, rides and food stalls for the whole family.
