There's no better way to spend bonfire night than all wrapped up, warm drink in hand with a spectacular fireworks display for entertainment. Luckily, there are plenty of options around the York and Harrogate area this November to help you celebrate bonfire night the right way in 2019.
YorkYork has quite a rich selection of events this year. Crayke Bonfire & Fireworks (Tue 5 Nov) welcome everyone with a licensed bar and hot food should you need to warm up a little; the bonfire starts at 6pm followed by a magical fireworks display at 6.30pm. Please note that there is limited parking so everyone is encouraged to walk or use public transport to get to Crayke Sports Club. If you don't feel like going home right after the fireworks, Poppleton Centre Bonfire & Firework Spectacular (Tue 5 Nov) have got you covered. After their annual bonfire and fireworks display (6pm and 7.15pm) there will be live music until 9pm. Note that tickets are only available in advance.
Elsewhere in York, the Long Marston Village Hall Bonfire & Firework Display (Tue 5 Nov) is back this year, too. The family event has homemade cakes, a licensed bar and even a mini market with gifts to buy. The bonfire is lit at 6pm and fireworks begin at 7pm. Finally, if you work, study or one of your family members does at Queen Ethelburga's College, you are invited to their Family Bonfire & Fireworks Display (Tue 5 Nov) night with hot food and a complimentary bag of sweets for the kids. The event is also open for local families living within a five mile radius of the college.
HarrogateThe Harrogate & District Railway Athletic Club celebrates bonfire night with their annual Starbeck Fireworks Display & Party (Sun 3 Nov); prepare yourself for an evening of hot food, live music and entertainment. Stray Charity is also back with their Bonfire & Fireworks. The bonfire is lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks start at 7.15pm.
PocklingtonWithin a short drive of the city, in the town of Pocklington, the local council is also taking part in the celebrations with Pocklington Bonfire Night (Tue 5 Nov), which is benefiting the Mayor's charities. There will be plenty of food and drink to keep you going until the bonfire is lit at 5.30pm, with the grand finale beginning at 6.30pm. If Tuesday does not work for you, the Kilnwick Percy Resort Fireworks Night (Sun 3 Nov) starts the party two days earlier, with Minster FM hosting the evening which will include amazing competitions, live music, fantastic food, rides, stalls and, of course, an exceptional firework display at 7.30pm.
RiponIf one night is not enough, Lightwater Valley Fantastic Fireworks will organise a special double bill: two fireworks finales (Sat 2 & Sun 3 Nov) with music and the chance to enjoy the signature rides of the theme park. While in Masham (Sat 9 Nov), the Community Bonfire & Fireworks begin at 6.30pm on the Holme.
ShiptonthorpeOnly five miles away from Pocklington, in Shiptonthorpe, you can celebrate bonfire night in style. Langlands Shiptonthorpe Bonfire Night Celebrations (Sat 2 Nov) is setting its fireworks to the tune of the all-time Disney favourite, The Lion King. If you want to feel extra special, you can splurge for a VIP ticket, which includes prime viewing position, a two-course meal with tea and coffee, sweetie cart and preferential parking.
WetherbyWith a lovely community bonfire, fairground rides and food, Wetherby Community Bonfire (Sat 2 Nov) returns starting all the fun at 6pm. Should you feel a bit more adventurous Stockeld Park Fireworks Display (Sun 3 Nov) puts on their show with entertainers, fire breathers and music accompanying the display that begins sharp at 5.30pm.
Fangfoss & WilberfossIn Fangfoss the Jubilee Park Bonfire and Fireworks (Sat 2 Nov) is also making a return this year, with the profits from ticket sales and the BBQ going towards the upkeep of the park. The bonfire begins at 6.30pm, whilst the fireworks make their big entrance at 7pm. In the meantime, if creativity is your thing, you can also enter the pumpkin competition. If you live further West, you can visit the Wilberfoss Fireworks Display (Sat 2 Nov) for another family-friendly affair complete with a fireworks display.
Easingwold & Tockwith & ThorganbyIf you drive up north of York you can visit Easingwold Scouts Bonfire & Fireworks (Sat 2 Nov) which is held in a truly unique venue; a spectacular Maize Maze. Get lost in the fun maze, enjoy the free raffle and finish the evening with the fireworks. Not a maze person? If you drive west of York the Tockwith Show Bonfire will guarantee an unforgettable night with local sausages, home made soups and cakes and of course, the bonfire at 6.30pm followed by the fireworks display at 7pm. Finally, the Thorganby Bonfire and Fireworks Night (Sat 2 Nov) returns once again with delicious BBQ, cake stalls and refreshments. Gates open at 5.30pm.
