Film education charity Into Film have revealed the winners of their fifth annual Into Film Awards, which aim to recognise the skills of young filmmakers from across the UK. Hundreds of young people from the ages of 9 to 19 were encouraged to submit their own short films for consideration, with nominations exploring a wide variety of themes and issues including food banks, anti-bullying, Trump, child online grooming and internet safety, Brexit, the miners, and our history through the eyes of their grandparents.

Judged by a range of leading film industry producers and Into Film trustees including founder and CEO of IMDb, Col Needham, producer at EON productions Barbara Broccoli, and film director Beeban Kidron, there were multiple winners across the 14 categories hailing from all over the UK. The short films were created and produced by young people as individuals or as part of a wider group in schools, colleges or youth groups, with the awards not only highlighting their creative talents but acting as a motivator, inspiring them to get involved in the future of film and filmmaking.

Winners were announced at a red-carpet event hosted by popular CBBC presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, with stars handing out awards including Eddie Redmayne, Lily James, Jason Isaacs, Andy Serkis and many more.

Into Film Ambassador, Eddie Redmayne said: 'I've been an ambassador for Into Film for a few years now, and I've always loved what Into Film does. Getting to come here to the Awards…the enthusiasm, the hard work, the tenacity has been very inspiring. I feel like inspiring is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but some of the films I've seen here, and some of the people – both the students and the teachers … it's sent me off with a skip in my step. It's been brilliant.'
