Chantel McGregor

29 Aug 2025 - 8 Dec 2025

The Blues came calling first, but rock was always waiting around the corner. Well it would be, wouldn’t it? Coming from the deep south, it was inevitable, but living in the deep south of a major Yorkshire City, there’s a gritty hard edge to life! A female guitar prodigy, Chantel was told by a major label that she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" Wisely ignoring their comments, she enrolled at the Leeds College of Music and became the first student in the college’s history, to achieve a 100% pass mark at BTEC, with 18 distinctions. Chantel then pursued further education and left with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a coveted prize, the college’s musician of the year award. Chantel released her highly anticipated second album, Lose Control, in October 2015 on her independent boutique label Tis Rock Music, this being the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Like No Other.

Martin Turner

11 Sept 2025 - 5 Oct 2025

Martin Turner and his band return to the concert stages during 2023 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wishbone Ash’s seminal double live album “Live Dates” (1973). Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to embark on their musical journey. Intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music's best loved works and influencing numerous successful bands, resulting in millions of album sales and concert attendances. Wishbone Ash would become one of the most enduring British rock acts - its name synonymous with high quality guitar-driven melodic rock music. Five decades later, the music of the classic line-ups of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new. Classic album releases such as Wishbone Ash, Argus, Pilgrimage, Wishbone Four, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and have touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist, bassist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums, with his passionate vocal delivery, songwriting ability, keen melodic sense and production values being major ingredients in the definitive Wishbone Ash sound. Martin Turner continues to delight audiences with performances of the band’s best loved works with his current line-up, which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Sonny Flint. The 2023 tour will see Martin and his band performing a show featuring music from Live Dates as well as other Wishbone Ash classics. Capturing the original Wishbone Ash line-up at its very best during the peak of its commercial success and featuring epic tracks such as “The King Will Come”, “Warrior”, “Throw Down the Sword” and “Phoenix”, Live Dates remains one of the most enduring and best loved double live albums of the rock era. Hejira: Celebrating Joni Mitchell

21 Sept 2025 - 3 Oct 2025

Hejira is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s. Having released the albums The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Hejira, Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter and Mingus (regarded as her ‘jazz period’), Joni then toured briefly with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous jazz musicians (Metheny, Mays, Brecker, Pastorius and Alias). The tour was recorded, producing the outstanding live album, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from this album that the band Hejira is drawing the body of its repertoire. Comprising highly experienced jazz musicians, this band is fronted by the brilliant Hattie Whitehead who not only has - in her own way - assimilated the poise, power and beauty of Joni’s vocals, but also plays guitar with Joni’s stylistic mannerisms. Expect an evening of the ‘great’ songs from Mitchell’s back catalogue, such as Amelia, Woodstock, A Case Of You, Song For Sharon, Edith And The Kingpin etc.!
Dirt Road Band

Dirt Road Band

19 Sept 2025 - 15 Oct 2025

The Dirt Road Band is the brainchild of guitar legend Steve Walwyn, mainly known as the longest serving guitar player in Dr Feelgood (32 years). During this time, he has amassed a massive reputation as a guitar hero in the UK, Europe, and beyond. He says, "I'd always liked the idea of the power trio-stripping everything back to the basics. Guitar, bass, and drums. To help him in this he has recruited the services of drummer Ted Duggan - professional since the 60s, including stints with Badfinger and world techno giants Banco de Gaia. I'd worked with Ted before, Steve says "I knew he would fit the gig perfectly. He certainly does. Bass player Horace Panter is unavailable for this weekend so in his place steps Norman Watt-Roy, one of Britain's best-loved bass players. He is best known today for his work with The Blockheads and Wilko Johnson. Over his long career, however, he has worked with the Clash, Madness, Nick Lowe, The Selecter, Rodger Daltrey, and provided the original bass line for Frankie Goes to Hollywood's smash hit 'Relax'. This then is Steve's dream team rhythm section that swings as hard as it rocks. We have started to develop that musical telepathy that makes a band more than just the sum of its parts. It is a really thrilling time and keeps music alive.'

Steve Ignorant

19 Sept 2025 - 21 Sept 2025

Steve Ignorant is a singer/songwriter and artist. He co-founded the anarcho-punk band Crass with Penny Rimbaud in 1977. After Crass stopped performing in 1984, he worked with other groups including Conflict, Schwartzeneggar, Stratford Mercenaries, Current 93, and US punk band Thought Crime, as well as occasional solo performances. Steve is also a wood sculptor and volunteer on the Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat, has written his autobiography All The Rest Is Propaganda- and has worked as a traditional Punch and Judy performer using the name Professor Ignorant. Steve is now performing with his new band Slice Of Life. A far cry from the aggression of Crass, nevertheless compelling with powerful songs delivered in an acoustic style. Impossible to categorise, Slice Of Life's music is up-front and soul-baringly personal. It's a mixture of songs and spoken word that draws you in and stays with you long after the final note has been played. Debut album Love And A Lamp-post was released on Overground records in late 2014, surprising many with its honesty and change of style for Steve. A new bassist followed in early 2015, along with new songs and extensive touring all over the UK, as well as dates in Finland, and festival slots at Rebellion, Wickerman and Something Else A Bit North.

Peat & Diesel

Peat & Diesel

19 Jul 2025 - 6 Dec 2025

The story began when three Stornoway Cove's (Innes, Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the craic on a Saturday night playing music with just the dog and the cat watching. After a few tunes getting thrown across the room Boydie stated muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few words no attention was really given to him until he shouted 'Quick, line me out!' Not a second to spare a set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs followed shortly after with a sound nobody had ever heard before. What came next was five gallons of lyrics, verse after verse, song after song Peat & Diesel was born! The songs won't make much sense to the average person, but the person behind the lyrics isn't your average man so if you have a listen and you can relate to it you are a special breed! Peat & Diesel Light my Byre takes you on a journey to the heart of the Western Isles, where #peatlemania was born. You might have time for a brandy in the 'Airidh' but don't miss your ride in Calum Dan's Transit Van, we ain't stopping till we lose the water!
The Cockney Rejects

The Cockney Rejects

3 Oct 2025 - 3 Oct 2025

Cockney Rejects were formed in the late seventies in East London as an answer to the art school punk that had dominated the scene up until then. Fiercely working class in stance and attitude, the band shunned the political ramblings of punk’s first wave and sang about the circumstances that surrounded them. Spotted by Sham 69's Jimmy Pursey and signed by EMI after playing four local gigs they found themselves playing sell out tours the length and breadth of the UK and seeing their debut album storm the charts. After a short break, the band returned to the live circuit in 2000, playing to hundreds of thousands of people across the globe with a live set that is so energetic that it has to be seen to be believed. With the fractionalization of the late ‘70’s and early ‘80’s now gone for good, with every gig becoming a party for fans and band alike, the Cockney Rejects go from strength to strength.

Sex Pistols Exposé / Ultimate Green Day: PUNK@50 Tour London
Malcolm, and the two Johns go for a drink in "The Roebuck", 354 Kings Road, and chat to the other members of the band, Steve, Paul and Glen. They then went to "Sex" boutique shop where John mimed to 'Eighteen' by Alice Cooper from the Jukebox inside. John Lydon was invited to rehearse with the band the next day at The Warehouse Theatre (locally known as The Crunchy Frog), 99 Rotherhithe Street, SE16 4NF, London. Although the term Punk had existed well before this pivotal moment, we have chosen to celebrate this point in the history of music with a series of dates, commemorating 50 years of Punk, featuring Sex Pistols Exposé and Ultimate Green Day, two of the best bands to pay tribute to two originals who played a huge part in the growth of Punk in the 70s and its resurgence in the 90s, paving the way for Pop Punk. Punk rock (also known as simply punk) is a music genre that emerged in the mid-1970s. Rooted in 1950s rock and roll and 1960s garage rock, punk bands rejected the corporate nature of mainstream 1970s rock music. They typically produced short, fast-paced songs with hard-edged melodies and singing styles with stripped-down instrumentation. Lyricism in punk typically revolves around anti-establishment and anti-authoritarian themes. Punk embraces a DIY ethic; many bands self-produce recordings and distribute them through independent labels. The term "punk rock" was previously used by American rock critics in the early 1970s to describe the mid-1960s garage bands. Certain late 1960s and early 1970s Detroit acts, such as MC5 and Iggy and the Stooges, and other bands from elsewhere created out-of-the-mainstream music that became highly influential on what was to come. Glam rock in the UK and the New York Dolls from New York have also been cited as key influences. Between 1974 and 1976, when the genre that became known as punk was developing, prominent acts included Television, Patti Smith, and the Ramones in New York City; the Saints in Brisbane; the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Damned in London, and the Buzzcocks in Manchester. By late 1976, punk had become a major cultural phenomenon in the UK. It gave rise to a punk subculture that expressed youthful rebellion through distinctive styles of clothing, such as T-shirts with deliberately offensive graphics, leather jackets, studded or spiked bands and jewelry, safety pins, and bondage and S&M clothes. In 1977, the influence of the music and subculture spread worldwide. It took root in a wide range of local scenes that often rejected affiliation with the mainstream. In the late 1970s, punk experienced a second wave, when new acts that had not been active during its formative years adopted the style. By the early 1980s, faster and more aggressive subgenres, such as hardcore punk (e.g., Minor Threat), Oi! (e.g., Sham 69), street punk (e.g., the Exploited), and anarcho-punk (e.g., Crass), became some of the predominant modes of punk rock, while bands more similar in form to the first wave (e.g., X, the Adicts) also flourished. Many musicians who identified with punk or were inspired by it went on to pursue other musical directions, giving rise to movements such as post-punk, new wave, thrash metal, and alternative rock. Following alternative rock's mainstream breakthrough in the 1990s with Nirvana, punk rock saw renewed major-label interest and mainstream appeal exemplified by the rise of the California bands Green Day, Social Distortion, Rancid, the Offspring, Bad Religion, and NOFX. Authenticity has always been important in the punk subculturethe pejorative term "poseur" is applied to those who adopt its stylistic attributes but do not actually share or understand its underlying values and philosophy. Scholar Daniel S. Traber argues that "attaining authenticity in the punk identity can be difficult"; as the punk scene matured, he observes, eventually "everyone got called a poseur". Kyle Falconer (The View)

Kyle Falconer (The View)

10 Sept 2025 - 5 Oct 2025

Kyle Falconer has always been a songwriter who has been inspired by a female muse. From his chart-topping success with The View through to his acclaimed solo career, his storytelling songs have explored the good times of love and lust; the bad times of regret and heartache; and stories of some of the larger-than-life characters who have stepped into his life, alongside some playful fictional narratives. Recently crowned with the King Tuts Songwriting Award at the Scottish Music Awards, Kyle brings the best of those songs together with The One I Love The Most which will be released on February 7th ahead of Valentines Day. The album is a collection of songs from his vast back catalogue, all of which are named after women and have been newly reworked in acoustic form. Named after a lyric taken from The View fan favourite 5 Rebeccas, The One I Love The Most features songs spanning almost two decades: from the unrequited love of Claudia (from the bands #1 debut album Hats Off To The Buskers) through to the lovelorn Dixie (the original of which featured on last years Top 10 return Exorcism of Youth). Along the way, the album also reinvents highlights from his two solo albums No Thank You and No Love Songs For Laura, which often tackled more complicated themes: Laura shares regrets for his past behaviour and the impact it had on his then-partner and now-wife Laura Wilde, to the issues of gender identity addressed in Kelly. A far lighter moment comes with Madonna, a playful, celeb-heavy imagining of what the ideal afterlife might be like, while Manchester rapper PROSE adds his razor-sharp rhymes to an otherwise stripped-back Lucy.

Hamilton Loomis

Hamilton Loomis

21 Nov 2025 - 21 Nov 2025

"If blues, soul, and rock can be said to form a triangle, you"ll find Hamilton Loomis right in the center of it', says Guitar Player Magazine. An apt description, as Loomis is one of the young artists at the forefront of bringing blues into the 21st century and redefining it for a contemporary audience. He has been bridging the gap between generations of music-lovers both in the U.S. and around the world. His new release, Ain't Just Temporary, finds Loomis masterfully blending his myriad influences, at once forging ahead into new musical territories while maintaining a strong connection to the blues legends that took him under their wings at a young age. Born and raised in Galveston, Texas, Hamilton was first hooked on music through his parents' extensive collection of blues, rock, and soul records. Hamilton honed his multi-instrumental chops early, learning drums, piano, guitar, bass and harmonica by his early teens, and performing as part of his family's doo-wop group. At age sixteen he went backstage to meet Bo Diddley, and before the night was over Hamilton was onstage playing alongside the legend. Since that initial meeting, Diddley has become a friend, mentor, and supporter. 'INNOVATE, DON'T IMITATE - ''Diddley's words continue to inspire Hamilton and fuel his desire for originality. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member said of Loomis, 'You got to put some seasonin' in what you're doin', and this boy's got the whole salt shaker!' Diddley contributes his unmistakable voice and funky tremolo guitar to 'You Got To Wait,' a tune he and Hamilton co-wrote for Ain't Just Temporary. Other Texas blues legends such as Johnny Copeland, Gatemouth Brown, Joe 'Guitar' Hughes, and Albert Collins also schooled him early on in the finer points of the music, recognizing the youngster's talent and potential. By the time he turned eighteen, Hamilton had performed in front of thousands at the Delta Blues Festival, and he was writing, arranging, and performing his own material. He released his first CD, Hamilton, in 1994, which received a Grammy Nomination for "Best Contemporary Blues Album". A series of self-released CDs followed, including 1996's Just Gimme One Night, 1999's All Fired Up, which the UK's Blues Matters said was 'so strong and confident that it has your vote two bars in.' Hamilton's 2002 release, Live-Highlights, captured what his crowd-pleasing show 'is all about, and that is powerful Blues, Funk and Soul,' according to Twelve Bar Rag magazine. 'There is not enough room here to point out all the good things about Live-Highlights!' Hamilton's first Blind Pig Records release, Kickin' It, released in 2003, presented his innovative approach to an audience hungry for something new in roots music. Said Blueswax, 'Loomis really gets it, and he is only in his twenties! Don't just dust off those old hackneyed Blues, create your own style of funkified soulful music.' Southland Blues raved, 'Kickin' It is one of the best CDs of the year. This kid's got most all of it and then some. More than worth a listen." And the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted, 'Loomis displays a polished vocal, guitar and songwriting knack that could win him the sort of crossover audience that Robert Cray and B.B. King enjoy.' 'I grew up not only listening to blues, but Otis Redding, Booker T., Sam & Dave, and Stevie Wonder'and that funky stuff you hear probably comes from me being a Prince fan,' says Loomis. All of these influences are on display on Ain't Just Temporary ' sparse, funky rhythms, earthy Fender Rhodes and Hammond B3 organ, powerful harmonica, and Hamilton's soulful vocals coupled with his stellar guitar work. Hamilton teamed with legendary Houston engineer Steve Ames to realize the album's natural, uncluttered, organic sound. Add in his tasteful addition of drum loops and other modern production touches and you get a refreshing approach that manages to avoid blues clichés while staying true to the heart of the music. Despite possessing the musical vocabulary that allowed him to handle virtually all the instruments heard on the CD, Hamilton's focus on songwriting, taste, and musicality remains steadfast. Touring non-stop since 2001, Hamilton has brought his funk-i-fied Texas music to audiences all over the U.S. and the world, recently earning two "Best Artist" awards in England and Wales. By deftly balancing his blues roots and penchant for experimentation and originality, Loomis has guaranteed his place at the head of the pack of young artists changing the face of modern blues.

Hamilton Loomis

Hamilton Loomis

21 Nov 2025 - 21 Nov 2025

Born and raised in Galveston, Texas, Loomis is the son of musician parents who listened to blues, rock and soul. Music ran in his veins and, with instruments readily available around the house, he picked up drums, piano, guitar and harmonica, honing his multi-instrumental talent in addition to performing regularly as part of his family's doo-wop group. A protégé of Bo Diddley, Loomis met the icon backstage at the age of 16 at Houston's famed venue Rockefeller's. Before the night was over, Loomis was onstage playing guitar with the legend. Diddley quickly became friend, mentor, collaborator and supporter, appearing on two of Loomis' albums and presenting a cherished red guitar that he still plays. Loomis and crew shine on stage proving his music is best experienced in person, where one can see and hear its intended splendor. Described by Blues Blast Magazine as a non-stop turbo of power, one minute moving from side to side of the stage, and then taking on his horn player in a head-cutting contest on the apron of the stage the next minute. Loomis' energetic, get-in-withthe-crowd antics are infectious. The swaying and clapping are just as he envisioned. Being comfortable on stage is something that comes completely natural to me, he says. I feel joy when I play music and it literally moves me. It moves my body. I learned long ago that whenever music is coming from you, from deep inside your soul and from the right place, people will feel that on a deeper level and might not even know what's going on inside of themselves. I enjoy engaging the crowd and feel a show should be an interactive experience.

XGENERATIONX

XGENERATIONX

20 Nov 2025 - 20 Nov 2025

XGENERATIONX Featuring Mark Laff (Generation X), Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet) and Elizabeth Westwood (Westworld) Celebrated original Generation X drummer Mark Laff returns with XGENERATIONX for a UK tour in November 2025. Legendary punk musician Mark Laff is set to make an electrifying comeback in 2025 with his new project, XGENERATIONX, performing the songs of Generation X that he played such a key role in creating with Billy Idol. Mark Laff's return to the live music scene has been highly anticipated by punk rock fans across the globe. Generation X were an English punk rock band, formed in London in 1976. They were the musical starting point of the career of their frontman Billy Idol and issued six singles that made the UK singles chart and two albums that reached the UK Albums Chart. The band's UK hit singles include Your Generation, Ready Steady Go, King Rocker and Valley of the Dolls. Mark Laff started his career as the drummer for the cult band Subway Sect on the notorious Clash White Riot Tour before joining Generation X. In 2007 he reunited with the original Subway Sect lineup and recorded the songs from the tour with the album 1978 Now. In 1980 Laff formed the post-punk band Empire. Despite little commercial success, Empire's album Expensive Sound was highly influential. Writing in The Guardian, Fugazi's Guy Picciotto described Empire's one album as awkward, unambitious and with only one album, the trio still left a huge mark, influencing the Stone Roses as well as the entire DC hardcore scene In 1985 Laff formed Twenty Flight Rockers and signed to WEA releasing the fans favourite Tower Block Rock and Johnny 7. Mark Laff looking forward to the tour commented: For those who kept the faith, I promise not to disappoint with this new exciting line up. I feel it's important that XGENERATIONX bring new life to the iconic songs from the 1st and 2nd Generation X albums. In addition to Mark Laff, the new lineup includes renowned pop rock/rockabilly star Elizabeth Westwood on vocals. Elizabeth fronted the hit 80s band Westworld, who had success with the UK #11 single Sonic Boom Boy and a further UK hit with Ba-Na-Na-Bam-Boo. Elizabeth's connections to Generation X include being in Westworld with guitarist Bob Andrews as well as being his partner at the time. Later on, Elizabeth was married to James Stevenson who ultimately replaced Andrews as the guitarist Generation X's final iteration, Gen X, in 1980/81. XGENERATIONX is poised to capture the spirit of Generation X and its songs while pushing the boundaries of their sound in exciting new directions. Joining Mark Laff and Elizabeth Westwood on this explosive tour is legendary multi-instrumentalist Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet. A founding member of one of the most iconic bands of the 80s, Steve is best known for his dynamic saxophone solos and charismatic stage presence. As Spandau Ballet's guitarist on the first two albums, he helped shape the band's distinctive New Romantic sound, which saw global hits like To Cut a Long Story Short, True, Gold, and Through the Barricades dominate the charts. Steve's creative energy and fearless approach to performance in Spandau Ballet and its punk predecessor The Makers -make him the perfect addition to the XGENERATIONX lineup. His musical versatility and edgy guitar sounds will add a fresh dimension to the band's punk anthems. Reflecting on the collaboration Steve Norman said: Generation X were the rebels with guitars, the punk poets of their time. Teaming up with Mark and Elizabeth to push these songs into a new era is going to be something really special. Were ready to turn up the volume and make some noise! Support comes from Herbie May (of The Lounge Society) & Pareidolls

There’s a difficult to describe, yet timeless quality to certain songs that transcends genre or era. It’s something that you can’t fake or contrive and it’s what lies at the core of Skating Polly’s music. Admittedly the female-driven alternative acts that inspired the band such as Veruca Salt, X, The Breeders, L7 and Babes In Toyland (the later of whom Skating Polly toured with in Europe) aren’t typical reference points for most of today’s up-and-coming bands, but maybe they should be.

Buzzcocks

Buzzcocks

16 Oct 2025 - 1 Dec 2025

Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto formed Buzzcocks in Bolton in February 1976. The band, completed by the addition of Steve Diggle and John Maher, opened for the Sex Pistols in Manchester on July 20th, a follow up to the now (in)famous Lesser Free Trade Hall gig which Devoto and Shelley had organised the month before. Gigs in Manchester and London followed, and by the end of 1976, Buzzcocks became one of the first groups to form their own independent record label - New Hormones - on which they released the now-legendary and seminal ‘Spiral Scratch’ EP. The following year saw the departure of Devoto and the recruitment of bassist Steve Garvey. In August 1977, the band signed a recording contract with United Artists Records and released the landmark ‘Orgasm Addict’ single. This was swiftly followed by ‘What Do I Get?’, the band’s first entry into the UK top 40 singles chart and the first of a string of chart singles. Over the next three years, Buzzcocks toured extensively and released a trilogy of outstanding albums: Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension, as well as the hugely influential and popular Singles Going Steady compilation. In 1981, the band went their separate ways to undertake new projects. 1989 saw the reconvened Shelley/Diggle/Garvey/Maher line-up tour the world again by popular demand. Since then, the Shelley/Diggle partnership has been the core of sustained and successful activity without pause, punctuating the years of high profile gigging to date with six successful and well-received studio albums, culminating in 2015's The Way. Few have had the longevity and sustained creative energy to produce the seemingly endless stream of truly original and fantastic pop songs that Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle have consistently delivered over the last four decades. Original and best. With the untimely passing of Pete Shelley in December 2018, Buzzcocks have continued to play live shows with founding member, Steve Diggle, taking over vocal duties to front the band. (A guest guitarist will be added to all live shows) Steve has sung with the band from the very beginning, writing 50 songs, including hits “Promises”, “Fast Cards” & “Harmony in my Head”. He will be joined by the long term current line-up of Danny Farrant (Drums) & Chris Remington (Bass) performing all the classic Buzzcocks hits & more.

Our Man In The Field

Our Man In The Field

6 Nov 2025 - 6 Nov 2025

Our Man In The Field is UK singer/songwriter and actor Alex Ellis, with assistance from a band that includes Henry Senior (pedal steel, dobro), Greg Bishop (drums, harmonies), Raul Biancardi (synth) and Luke Ydstie (bass). Plying a winning combination of indie-folk and Americana with significant soulful country vibes that nods to the likes of Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, Wilco, Ryan Adams and Lambchop, OMITF issued a well received debut album, The Company Of Strangers, in 2020 and wowed audiences promoting it when guesting for the likes of The Delines, playing festival dates and touring in their own right. The first single from the album is Last Dance, which is built from a sonic template that recalls Hiss Golden Messenger (who recently had an album mixed by Martine), while Ellis relates a tale of witnessing the traumatic split of personal friends following an infidelity. One requests a quiet departure from the relationship (If you're leaving in the morning / Go before the sun comes up), while the guilty party requests a shot at redemption (If you're leaving in the morning / Can I have one last dance). The emotional push and pull of the lyric is offset by the song's bright, upbeat feel, embellished with a country fiddle melody and oscillating synth line over a groovy backbeat and Ellis' warm vocal timbre.

The Fuzztones (45th Anniversary)

The Fuzztones (45th Anniversary)

23 Jul 2025 - 23 Jul 2025

THE FUZZTONES45 Anniversary THE GURUS OF GARAGE GRUNGE will be back at the 100 CLUB London to celebrate their 45 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! 2025 marks the 45 year anniversary of cult faves, The Fuzztones. Their fiery brand of Garage-Psych Punk pre-dated the entire "Garage Revival" of the 1980s and has influenced hundreds of groups, from The Hives to The Horrors. Born in the summer of 1980 in the bowels of NYC's Lower East Side, The Fuzztones were soon regulars at legendary NYC hotspots such as CBGB, and the Mudd Club. By utilizing the fuzzbox (an antiquated effects pedal used by many 60's groups to achieve overly distorted "psychedelic" guitar sounds), the band created a raunchy sound they referred to as "Grunge"...(On their 1984 debut single, "Bad News Travels Fast", lead guitarist Elan Portnoy is credited as playing "lead grunge", at least a decade before the Seattle Grunge Invasion), and the band was nicknamed "The Gurus of Garage Grunge." More than any other band, it’s The Fuzztones who are responsible for initiating the Garage Movement that began in the 80’s and continues to this day. In fuzz we trust! Support will be from London's greatest and most sensational Rhythm'n'Blues-Punk band: King salami and the Cumberland three And AFONSO from The Parkinsons and Johnny Throttle will be the GUEST DJ spinning tunes before and in between bands!
