We are incredibly proud to present our June 2026 production of Calendar Girls Based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth, a truly inspiring, uplifting, and beautifully human story that has captured hearts across the world. Based on the remarkable true story of a group of Yorkshire Womens Institute members, Calendar Girls first gained international recognition through the 2003 film before being adapted for the stage. Since then, it has become a popular play, celebrated for its warmth, humour, and honest portrayal of friendship, loss, and resilience. WI members Annie and Chris are the best of friends and so when Annie's husband dies of leukaemia, they put their energies into fundraising to buy a new settee for the local hospital. However, funds are to be raised from members posing nude in an alternative calendar, so approval needs to be gained in order to proceed. As word spreads to the press of their efforts the village becomes a hive of activity and it doesn't take long for their friendship to be put under pressure. We are honoured to be baring all (tastefully!), to bring this iconic story to Blakedown Parish Rooms and to share its message with our audiences.
