Shades returns to celebrate 10 years of Brighton-born underground culture. Founded in 2016 as a small gallery night, Shades has grown into a platform championing the UK’s underground rap and alternative scene, known for intimate, high-energy events and a strong community spirit. To mark a decade since the first event, Shades comes back home for a special anniversary night at one of its favourite venues. Expect the most, with DJs sets from Forty, live sets from Louie Levack and Big YS, plus more acts to be announced. With just 100 tickets available, this one won’t hang around.

Champion Trees and Kaspar Hauser embark on a joint UK tour this August. Champion Trees is a band from Cape Town, South Africa, that recently moved to the UK and released their second album, A Duck's Water Off My Back - a gentle and immersive record graced with memorable lyrics and gorgeous woodwind and string arrangements. Kaspar Hauser is a south London indie folk, chamber pop and experimental band formed in 2022. Their recent album The Pink Parade features 56 minutes of richly arranged story telling songs, often tackling themes of emotions, mental health, love and nature. Presented by Falling Moon. Fuzzy Lights were formed in Cambridge in 2004 as a duo of Rachel and Xavier Watkins. From initial experiments with violin and guitar loops they expanded into a four-piece for their near-instrumental debut album A Distant Voice in 2008. In 2010 they released their second album, Twin Feathers, as a settled quintet, weaving together elements of pastoral psych-folk and noise-rock. The album received critical acclaim, being named Underground Album of the Month in MOJO and receiving four-star reviews in Uncut and Artrocker. Several tracks from the record featured across BBC 6 Music shows, and the same year they played at the End of The Road Festival. In 2011, they retreated to a farmhouse in Dedham Vale to write new songs, and the fruits of these sessions were later recorded live to tape at a Limehouse studio. Released in February 2013, Rule of Twelfths was a more direct album, cinematic in essence while carrying the ghosts of wall of sound productions. It too was well received, with Uncut magazine declaring a work that sweetly lulls the listener with delicate folk numbers before ambushing them with surging orchestral noise. It's this contrast that makes Rule of Twelfths so effective. Following on from a series of events performing semi-improvised film soundtracks the group went into hibernation for a number of years, emerging only briefly to act as soundcarriers for legendary former Can frontman Damo Suzuki. Behind the scenes, Fuzzy Lights worked on intertwining improvised jams with deliberate and personal songwriting, re-emerging with Burials, a collection of delicate yet weighty tunes that is the band's most compelling statement to date. Harvey Rushmore & The Octopusare a Basel psych quartet channelling garage, surf and krautrock into hypnotic, fuzz-driven rock'n'roll. Their songs draw on vintage sci-fi, B-movie imagery and 1960s psychedelia, landing between motorik grooves, raw garage energy and shimmering surf guitar. Following their 2026 album Mindsuckers and hundreds of visually enhanced shows across Europe, they bring a widescreen live set built for a packed room.

honeyglow honeyglow is an Alt, Riot Grrrl band born of contradictions. Fronted by Izzy Thomas, her offstage softness transforms into a fierce onstage roar. Alongside Jessie Hill, Luke Howard and George Hardy, honeyglow channel frustration and vulnerability into their music built on distortion, glittering hooks and raw emotion. Self described as "Stampy fairy". The band blend whimsy and a healthy dose of sarcasm, creating music for anyone who has ever felt too much, too quiet, too strange, too angry or too soft. Hestia With an emphasis on an exciting live performance, Hestia is London's newest alt-rock band. Originally from Winchester where they formed back in college. They're all about capturing the rush of a live gig, packing their songs with raw guitars and energetic vocals so listeners feel like they're standing right in front of the stage. sundaughter Four-piece mercurial shoegaze group formed in Reading, Sundaughter weave dreamy textures with delicate Eastern influences. Their sound is both expansive and intimate, drawing from influences such as Khruangbin, The Smiths and Angel Olsen, with shimmering guitars, airy vocals and a hypnotic atmosphere.

The Third Sound - The ever-evolving The Third Sound are back with their hypnotic blend of psychedelia and drone-infused post-punk. Following a successful Australian tour in early 2026, the cards were reshuffled once again. With a brand-new lineup in place, the band has begun work on their seventh album, due for release next year. Before heading back into the studio to finish the record, The Third Sound will embark on a run of autumn shows, testing out new material alongside songs from previous albums-many of which have become firm favourites with audiences during their live performances in recent years. Their well-received latest LP, Most Perfect Solitude, was released on Fuzz Club Records in 2024 and was followed by the standalone single Remedy, which arrived earlier in 2026. After touring extensively over the last few years-both with The Third Sound and as a guitarist for the Brian Jonestown Massacre-Berlin-based Icelandic musician Hákon Aðalsteinsson is ready to take the band in new directions. He is joined by fellow Icelander and Brian Jonestown Massacre member Hallberg Daði Hallbergsson, along with Francis Broek (Goblyns) and Mike Denton (formerly of The Lucid Dream).

The six friends and musicians that make up Glasgow outfit Lacuna have been putting out steady releases and gigging since 2021. They’ve played sold-out shows at the famous Windmill venue in Brixton and received a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. In 2025, Lacuna sold out their King Tut’s headline show, travelled around the country, played alongside renowned artists Corto Alto and Edwyn Collins, and released their second and third EPs. The band have carved out a reputation for rich storytelling and melodic flair, expertly crafting intricate and dynamic soundscapes, drawing comparisons to Ethel Cain, boygenius, Daughter, and Lana Del Rey. The year closed with the release of their third EP, Nest, a vinyl collaboration with Assai Records, and an explosive King Tut’s headline. Lonnie Gunn is a New Jersey-born, Brighton-based artist making fuzz-laden, hook-heavy earworms. She blends grit with melody, mournful and tense, edging the listener into catharsis. Her lyrics cut close, delivered with disarming intimacy and a dry, sly wit. Gunn considers her music “for people who like the smell of a dentist’s practice”; there’s a strange, electric pull you can’t quite explain, but keep revisiting. With live dates supporting TTSSFU, Silver Gore and Kim Gordon, 2026 will see her release her most ambitious work yet. Presented by JOY.. This is an 18+ event

Earth Tongue - Earth Tongue are a Wellington-born duo known for their fuzz-heavy sound and mind-expanding live shows. They will perform at King Gizzard’s Field of Vision festival in Colorado and Levitation in Austin in 2026. After touring with Queens of the Stone Age, Ty Segall, Hällas and The Scientists-and appearing at Dark Mofo-the duo return with Dungeon Vision, their third album. Produced by Ty Segall and recorded live to tape in Los Angeles, the album captures Earth Tongue’s raw chemistry through fuzz guitars, pounding drums and haunting vocals. Their previous album, Great Haunting, earned them the 2025 Best Group award and a Taite Music Prize nomination.
