A former NHS office block -- and from the street, it looks it -- St Margaret's House has been converted inside into a warren of studios, gallery spaces, and offices for everyone from the leaseholder and parent organisation, Edinburgh Palette, to the Edinburgh Judo Club. It was briefly known as Art's Complex until they reverted to the building's original name. With 200 studios and 9,000 ft² of gallery space, the sheer profusion of events in St Margaret's House can be bewildering, but with all that diversity there's something for everyone. Edinburgh College of Art has taken to leasing gallery space in the building for its own shows. The building features a print room and kiln facilities. The nearest railway station is Edinburgh Waverley, but given that it's more than a mile and a half away, by far the quickest access is by road. Lothian Bus routes 4, 5, 15, 15a, 26, x26, 44, 44a, 45 and 113 all stop outside on London Road, and pedestrian access is by a footbridge.
