Hever Castle and Gardens

Best known as the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle captures the unforgettable moments of romance, danger and intrigue that echo to this day within its walls. With a double moat and drawbridge, the 13th century castle has splendid panelled rooms containing fine furniture, tapestries and an important collection of Tudor portraits. Step into the glorious award winning gardens, with Rose, Italian and Tudor gardens as well as mazes, grottoes, water features and a boating lake. There’s an adventure playground with a tower maze, and children and adults alike love the miniature model houses.

Discover the gentle, mindful craft of Willow Weaving with tutor, Mel Roberts. This relaxed and friendly workshop offers you the chance to learn a new skill and tap into your inner creativity to create your very own willow flower wreath No previous experience is necessary. All tools, materials and step-by-step guidance are provided to enable you to make something unique to take home with you. This workshop is suitable for adults; accompanied children of 14 years + are also welcome. Please note that willow contains the same chemical as found in Aspirin. Therefore, it is not recommended for people with an allergy to aspirin without using gloves. Your booking for this one day course also includes free access to explore the gardens at Hever Castle on the day of your course. Castle upgrade tickets will be available on entry. Cancellation policy If the booking is cancelled with or within one week prior to the course start date the course fee will still remain.

Step into the colourful world of glass fusing with trained tutor, Jane Padgham. This relaxed and creative session offers the perfect introduction to working with glass. Taking inspiration from nature and the seasons, you’ll create at least two items such as a 10cm coaster, light catcher, garden stake, ornament or piece of bunting. Jane will be on hand to guide you as you bring your designs to life. No previous experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. The workshop is suitable for ages 18+. Please wear suitable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Please note: your finished creations will need to be fired in Jane’s studio and will not be available to take home on the day. They’ll be ready to collect approximately 14 days later. Collection details can be arranged at the end of the session, or postage is available for a small additional fee.

Take a moment to enjoy and observe nature in the beautiful surroundings of Hever Castle & Gardens. Look at how flowers are put together and translate the shapes and character into sketches. After making Some initial pencil observations, head outside and sketch in the garden (weather permitting). Back in the workshop, apply loose watercolour and fine liner pens to create expressive, quick, colour sketches. No prior drawing experience is necessary. This course focuses on enjoying the mindful process of observing and connecting with nature. Sketching offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, be present, and unwind from the demands of everyday life. There will be an assortment of pencils, fine liners and watercolours available to use on the course. Please bring a hardback Sketchbook, minimum paperweight 160 gsm, or contact [email protected] to Purchase one to be provided on the day. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch, or else take advantage of the Moat Restaurant. There will be a half hour lunch Break. Who needs to book? Pre-booking is essential for this experience.
