The Lowry

The Lowry

The Lowry is Salford's biggest art and theatre venue, opened in 2000. The building houses three theatre spaces: the 1,730-seat Lyric Theatre, the 466-seat Quays and the smaller Studio, as well as art galleries that contain a major collection of the work of the much-loved Lancashire painter LS Lowry, after whom the entire complex is named. Other galleries feature major touring exhibitions. The Lowry receives major touring theatre productions as well as stand-up comedy, opera, dance, cabaret and children's shows. At the Restaurant, head chef Oliver Thomas has been praised for an unfussy approach highlighting the best local ingredients. The centre is easily accessible by public transport, being ten minutes' drive from Manchester city centre and served by tram and bus links. Parking is available at the Lowry Outlet Mall car park, directly adjacent to the centre.

The Hollies

The Hollies are one of Britain’s best-loved groups. Their soaring, distinctive harmonies, brilliantly crafted songs, and cultivated musicianship; coupled with The Hollies extensive back catalogue of memorable songs has ensured the longevity of one of the greatest Pop groups to emerge from the early 1960’s British Rock revolution - when British Music began to shake the world. With a track record as luminous and colossal as The Hollies’, it’s difficult to know where to begin. The band have released some of the best-loved pop songs ever: The Air That I Breathe, American number 1: Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress), Bus Stop, I’m Alive, Carrie Anne, the soul-stirring He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother... the list goes on. From 1963 through to the mid-70’s, The Hollies had 18 Top ten hits. He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother gave them another No 1 hit when re-released in 1988. “I’m Alive” had been their first chart topper back in 1965. Today, at the heart of The Hollies since 1963 are original members: drummer Bobby Elliott and singer, songwriter and lead guitarist, Tony Hicks.

He’s back for more comedy chaos! Jason has learnt over the past few years that we all need to “play” a bit more in our lives. Whether it’s inviting or dragging (as it has been known) people up onto stage and making a “holy show of them” as they say in Ireland. Jason’s Audience Precipitation, will be a laugh out loud, must see show, with a light drizzle of audience participation… ooohhh clever that.
