Come along to Baby Boo open ended play sessions where we will explore different ways to play with all sorts of sensory materials and objects chosen to encourage your little ones to use their imaginations and to create their own worlds! We play around with environments and themes and have fun designing surroundings to play in! There is no specific format, just come along and explore at your own speed! At Baby Boo we believe that babies and children should be given time and space to explore and play in their own way. Live Music in the Theatre at Horse + Bamboo from Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey are celebrated musicians in the realm of Celtic folk music, renowned for their exceptional skills and innovative approaches. Former BBC Folk Awards Musician of the Year Michael McGoldrick is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and composer. Born in Manchester to Irish parents, he is a master of the wooden flute, low whistles and uilleann pipes, making him a go-to contributor for many artists. Mike has collaborated withMark Knopfler since 2009 and been a core member of the Transatlantic Sessions since 2007. Steeped in Irish traditional music, he has, from his ground-breaking 2000 solo albumFusedonwards, assimilated a wide range of musical styles into his work including jazz ,funk, African and Indian rhythms. Mike has made an immense contribution to the Irish and UK folk scenes through his many solo and collaborative projects including being a founder member of the supergroup Lnasa and later through his work with Capercaillie. Recently nominated as Best Folk Instrumentalist at the2024 RT Radio 1 Folk Awards, Mikes reputation as one of the leading musicians of his generation is undeniable. Tim Edey is a guitarist & melodeon player, a BBC musician of the year & BBC Scotland best traditional musician winner. Having spent years touring with acts like The Chieftains, Seamus Begley, Brendan Power, Natalie MacMaster to name a few, Tim is now an accomplished soloartist and joins Mike, a huge musical influence, having first met him at Rochester Sweeps Festival in 1996. Balkanic-folksy-ska with high octane exuberance, dabbling in the delights that klezmer, gypsy and trad Irish music have to offer, Lazlo Baby stitch together pounding melodies thatll clobber you with their enthusiastic brouhaha. Support Act : Iguanas on the Floor Iguanas On The Floor is a Liverpool-based band that toes the line between upbeat and manic, writing funk rock music that is easily identifiable by its skilfully synchronised guitar parts and bass lines, as well as poignant lyrics and magnetic drum beats. The band is made up of music students at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, namely: Eve O'Riordan on vocals, Max Holden on lead guitar, Ethan Calouro on rhythm guitar, Ethan Carson on bass and Hannah Gibney on drums.

Waterfoot Wakes | Optical Theremin Workshop
Ever wanted to create your own unique sounds? This workshop, guided by artist Tom Richards offers a fun introduction to electronic music creation, no prior experience or soldering skills required. We'll guide you through building a simple synthesizer inspired by the Theremin, a classic instrument controlled by hand movements. However, our version uses light! At the end of the workshop, you'll be able to take your new DIY instrument home with you. Workshop Leader, Tom Richards is an artist, musician, DJ, researcher and instrument designer, who has built his own idiosyncratic modular electronic music system, with which he creates slowly evolving and heavily textured polyrhythmic improvisations. Workshop : Add to Rushcart at Waterfoot Wakes
Rushcarts are a distinctly northwest folk custom. Traditionally built from Juncaceae rushes and pulled through the streets during wakes week celebrations and other mill holidays, there are still annual rushcart festivals in Saddleworth, Whitworth and Sowerby Bridge. This year, the artist Lucy Wright is building a rushcart for Waterfoot, as part of her ongoing Future Folk Archetypes series. Combining the dazzling aesthetics of the Lancashire carnivals, past and presentwith a contemporary 'cart' built around a supermarket trolleyall elements of the cart's decorations will be made by hand. Come along and create spangly rosettes and other adornments, and learn how you can help pull (or push!) the cart in the Waterfoot Wakes parade on 12 July!
