Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself

20 Sept 2025 - 27 Mar 2026

Oh, it’s all there! All the trademarks are in evidence in Ardal’s latest show. Beautifully crafted stand-up comedy? Yes. Celebrated use of language? Tick. Lateral thinking, surreal flourishes, sharp observations? Of course. As for the occasional profundity? Maybe. Despite his best attempts over many decades to put the world to rights, it is still a colossal mess. And so, Ardal has no choice but to go out on the road again. Like the good comedy doctor he is, he fearlessly diagnoses the various pathologies and neuroses that are currently ravaging humanity. Disclaimer: No solutions provided. After an alarming experience at the supermarket, Ardal reflects on who he is as a man and a comedian. He examines his own ethnic and religious background, and thinks twice about the very core of his identity as a voice of reason. Is everything a big lie? With no major trauma of his own to draw on for material, apart from the drag of getting older, he also turns his gaze outwards at the joys and follies of contemporary life. Towel Animals? A.I.? Chair Yoga? Cauliflower as a main course? Yes. Yes. Yes. And Yes. No current idiocy is left unexamined. With a highly developed sense of the ridiculous, and proper comedy bones, NOT HIMSELF, is a testament to the healing power of humour. And the joy of jokes.

Circus City presents: Heka by Gandini Juggling
"A conjurer is not a juggler; he is an actor playing the part of a magician; an artist whose fingers have more need to move with deftness than with speed." Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, Secrets of Conjuring and Magic, 1868 Juggling and Magic are like long lost sisters. So similar and yet so different. Drawing inspiration from the intricate connection between the two, Heka (the Egyptian goddess of magic!) transports audiences into a mesmerising realm where reality blurs with illusion.Heka transcends boundaries, inviting spectators on a journey where objects materialise and vanish, levitate, and transform before their eyes. Yet, beneath the surface lies a tantalising question: what is real and what is merely a trick of perception?Infused with a captivating blend of humour and philosophy, Heka marks a departure for Gandini's renowned repertoire. Director Sean Gandini, whose artistic journey began in Havana half a century ago, revisits his magical roots in this hybrid performance. Above it all it is a celebration of the silliness and absurdity of entertainment, a homage to the delights of the absurd. “They are confoundingly good” The Stage “The strange steals the show with irresistible allure!” Le Figaro “Whether you’re drawn to magic, dance, juggling, or simply looking for an unforgettable experience, Heka will deliver on all fronts!” A Young(ish) Perspective “Mind Blowing” A Young(ish) Perspective Age recommendation: All ages are welcome.
