The Alexia Gardner Quintet is a newly formed combo of top-flight North East players, underpinning Grammy-nominated British-Jamaican vocalist Alexia Gardner.
Alexia returned to the UK in 2023 after years of performing and recording in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States. Nominated for a Grammy in two categoriesBest Newcomer and Best Vocal Jazz Albumin 2011, she was also the recipient of the Swiss Jazz Award that same year. Now back in her homeland, she brings with her five acclaimed jazz vocal albums and years of finely honed stagecraft, ready to deliver a classy live performance of jazz standards and popular repertoire for our club here in Sunderland.

The Quintet has hit the ground running, according to their review in Bebop Spoken Here , and we are delighted to have them relaunch the Old Black Cat Jazz Club at our new venue: Sunderland Minster.
Old Black Cat Jazz Club events happen on the third Friday of each month and offer jazz fansand the jazz-curiousan opportunity to enjoy fantastic live performances in intimate, beautiful surroundings, with exquisite acoustics and a like-minded crowd. While regular attendees may be used to traveling to the East End for our events, were bringing the programme to Sunderland Minster for 2025.
