Candlelight Piano Recital

Join us for an atmospheric candlelight performance by world-renowned, award-winning, pianists Tanya Ursova Owens and Viktoria Goncharova in aid of Autism Action.
Tanya Ursovareceived her initial musical training at the Donetsk Prokofiev Conservatoire in Ukraine. During her studies she was a prizewinner of two international piano competitions: the IPTA in Paris in 1997, and the Konzerteum 1998 in Athens. In 2000 Tanya was awarded the Entrance Scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music to pursue a Masters degree in piano performance. Following her graduation, she was invited to join the museum team at the Academy where she worked for more than 10 years. In 2009 Tanya was awarded a PhD in Piano Performance at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Her notable appearances include performance as a soloist in Prokofievs Second Piano Concerto with Goldsmiths Sinfonia, performances with the Viva6 Ensemble at International Film Festivals at the National Film Theatre, London, as well as in Manchester and Bordeaux. Tanya was featured in the documentary 'The Unknown Shostakovich', which was shown in London, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark and broadcast on Sky. She has also worked as a piano consultant in the ITV drama A Room with a View, the soundtrack of which features her playing.
Among her awards are the prestigious KPMG/Martin Musical Scholarship, the Marusia Yaworska Musical Scholarship from the University of Ottawa, the ORS Award from the Universities UK, grants from Newby Trust, BFWG and Ferdinand Beck Fund. Tanya has performed at St. Jamess in Piccadilly, the Ukrainian Embassy in London, the Pump Room in Bath, Holywell Music Room in Oxford, Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge, Sheremetyev Palace in St Petersburg and other venues in the UK, Sweden, Italy, France, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Viktoria Goncharova is a graduate of the Donetsk Prokofiev Music Academy in Ukraine, where she obtained a degree in solo piano performance, piano accompaniment, piano teaching and chamber music performance. In addition, she completed her masters degree in Music and Culture Studies in 2004, undertook further professional studies as an assistant professor of piano at the Donetsk Music Academy and qualified as a university lecturer and solo concert artist in 2007. Viktoria has published more than 40 articles, books and piano teaching methodology manuals in Ukraine, Russia and Europe and has presented papers at many music conferences in Ukraine and abroad. She was awarded a PhD in Music and Culture Studies by the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management in Kiev, Ukraine in 2014.
Viktoria has been teaching students of all ages and levels for 22 years. Her students have won prizes at several prestigious international piano competitions and performed throughout Ukraine, Russia and Poland. Between 2015 and 2022 Viktoria has worked as a solo artist at the Donetsk Philharmonic Hall, regularly giving recitals on both piano and organ. She has performed extensively in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany and Austria and is a member of the Rachmaninov Society, the Russian Association of Piano Duets and the Piano Accompanists Guild. A prizewinner of many national and international piano competitions, she received awards from the Union of Moscow Architects, Radio Russia and Accademia Pianistica Siciliana (Italy) for her performance artistry. Viktoria has served as a jury member at several national and international music competitions. She recorded a CD with Alexei Balashov, the oboist and soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic in 2013. In addition, she has been the founder and organizer of the 2016 International Music Competition in Donetsk, Ukraine, which attracted hundreds of young participants from several countries.
Viktoria has recently moved to the UK where she is continuing to develop her performance and teaching careers. She has recently been appointed Director of Music at St Martins Church in Ruislip. Her recent performances have included a duet recital with Tanya Ursova at the Royal Academy of Music, recitals with the Scherzo Ensemble at the Brompton Oratory in London and St Peters in Petersfield, a solo piano concert at the Rose Hill Theatre in Tunbridge Wells and appearances as a collaborative pianist at the International Wind Competition Classic Winds in Dubai, UAE.
